Taylor Fritz vs Andrey Rublev Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Fritz & Overs backed in Toronto quarter-finals
Taylor Fritz and Andrey Rublev are set to clash in the Canada Masters quarter-finals. Fritz, having reached the quarter-finals in all nine Masters 1000 tournaments, is in splendid form with significant wins this season including a semi-final appearance at Wimbledon. Rublev, despite some struggles, aims to exploit his past successes in Canada where he reached the final in Montreal. The Toronto courts favor big servers, suggesting a competitive match likely to feature multiple tiebreaks. The match can be streamed live on Unibet, where viewers can also place bets.

Fritz has become just the 11th active player to reach the quarter-finals at all nine Masters 1000 tournaments after reaching the last eight in Toronto, while he's put himself forward as one of the form players on tour, registering an 18-3 record since June. Rublev meanwhile has been struggling for his best tennis over the last couple of years, but he has good memories of Canada after reaching the final in Montreal last year, conquering Jannik Sinner along the way.
I'm backing Over 23.5 total games here. These Toronto courts are extremely quick, it's tough to break serve and we're seeing tons of tiebreaks as a result - case in point, Fritz seeing three tiebreakers in his previous round against Jiri Lehecka and Rublev trading tiebreaks with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina before the Spaniard retired. Fritz hasn't been at his best so far this tournament, but he's been in far superior form to Rublev lately and I'll back him when the going gets tough here.
Head To Head
Fritz leads 5-4 and has won four of the last six meetings. However, it was Rublev who prevailed 6-3 6-4 in the most-recent encounter in Madrid last year.
Taylor Fritz Form
Fritz comes into this contest with a 35-12 record on the season, really raising his level since the grass swing to come into Toronto at No. 4 in the world and the second seed.
It was a disappointing start to the season for Fritz, but he's won 18 of his last 21 matches coming into this clash, with most of them coming during a particularly fruitful grass swing.
The American picked up two ATP titles in Stuttgart and Eastbourne before advancing to the Wimbledon semi-finals, where it took Carlos Alcaraz in four sets to eliminate him.
Fritz returned to action with a quarter-final exit in Washington last week, but has fought and scrapped his way into the Canada Masters quarter-finals in Toronto, edging out Roberto Carballes Baena 7-5 7-6, posting a good 6-4 6-2 win over Gabriel Diallo and surviving Jiri Lehecka 7-6 6-7 7-6 in a match that featured no breaks of serve and last almost three hours.
Andrey Rublev Form
Rublev has registered a 26-17 record on the season and arrived in Toronto just outside the world's top 10 at No. 11.
The Russian has battled lots of mental demons over the last two years and there's a sense he's reached the peak of his career after reaching his best ranking of No. 5 in 2021. It appears there's a ceiling with Rublev and it's tough to see where he can make any improvements to become a genuine Grand Slam contender.
It's been a consistent last couple of months for Rublev, but he's struggling to take that extra step - he's finished runner-up in Hamburg, made the R16 at both Roland Garros and Wimbledon and the semi-finals in Los Cabos, but failed to convert any of those tournaments into meaningful moments.
Rublev suffered an opening round exit to Learner Tien in Washington last week, but has given himself another chance at a deep run in Canada after making the final in Montreal last year, beating Hugo Gaston and Lorenzo Sonego before benefitting from Davidovich Fokina retiring due to fatigue in the R16.

Verdict
These Toronto courts are playing very fast and the last five combined completed sets between the pair have featured a tiebreak.
Fritz' serve will prove tough to handle in these conditions, so I'm going to back the American to come out on top.
