The Mariners have gone unbeaten in eight of their last nine games, but suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat to Melbourne Victory before the break, halting their rise up the ladder and unlikely challenge for a place in the top six. Perth meanwhile have fallen off a cliff since their bright start to the season and head into this encounter having gone winless in their last seven games. Tough to see them making the finals from here, but hey, stranger things have happened - like the Mariners being in seventh...

It's probably a must-win game for Central Coast if they want to remain firmly in the finals hunt, but I'm leaning with a draw and Over 2.5 goals as the best bet. Although the Mariners went eight games unbeaten before that Victory defeat, half of those games ended in a draw. Perth have also been drawing more often than not lately. Apart from Adam Taggart, neither side really have a player who stands out as a noted goalscorer, but there's good value for Perth midfielder Nicolas Pennington at $6.10 at UniBet ($4 to $5 at other bookies) - he was on target vs Mariners earlier this season and can pop up from time to time.

This will be the third meeting between the teams this season. Central Coast dug out a 1-0 triumph back in Round 4 before Perth eased to a big 3-0 win in Round 12.

It's been a surprise turnaround for the Mariners as they come into this clash with a 7-6-8 record on the season and in seventh spot on the ladder.

Looking almost certainties to be in a scrap for the wooden spoon, Central Coast came from nowhere to put together an eight-game unbeaten run, defeating the likes of Victory, Macarthur, Wanderers and Brisbane.

The Mariners also ended the winning streak of rivals Newcastle in that period, but their unbeaten run was snapped emphatically by Melbourne Victory before the break, with Warren Moon's side suffering a 4-1 defeat at AAMI Park.

That loss leaves the Mariners trailing sixth-placed Macarthur by a single point with a game in hand.

Perth Glory Form Analysis

Perth head into this clash with a 6-5-11 record on the season and languishing in 11th spot on the ladder, just two points ahead of the Wanderers.

It was a bright start to the season as Adam Griffiths took charge, but the honeymoon period is well and truly over and Glory are now once again fighting to avoid the wooden spoon.

Such is the nature of the A-League, two wins in a row could propel Perth right back into the finals picture, but having gone seven games without a victory, it's tough to see it happening.

Glory have picked up a point in three of their last four games, including a most-recent 1-1 draw with reigning premiers City.
