Victory are eyeing off a potential top two finish after seeing off the Mariners 4-1 before the break, while Wellington have propelled themselves towards finals contention following back-to-back victories over Perth and Brisbane, rising to within one point of the top six.

It's an unlikely late-season resurgence for Wellington, but it's unlikely they keep it going against a Victory side who have beaten them in the last four meetings. Victory have scored 12 goals in that period and with midfield maestro Juan Mata pulling the strings, we can expect the goals to flow again on Sunday.

I like both teams to find the back of the net, with Victory prevailing with at least three total goals. It's been a great stretch of form for Victory - they've gone unbeaten in their last seven games, beating Macarthur and Central Coast by 4-1 scores in their last two.

However, the scoreline flattered Victory against the Mariners before the break.

Arthur Diles' side were forced to come from behind, scoring all four goals in the second-half and only sealing the game with two stoppage time strikes on the counter.

Nishan Velupillay, Juan Mata, Nikos Vergos and Jason Davidson were all on target for Victory as they went ahead of Adelaide on goal difference.

Phoenix head into this showdown with a 7-6-9 record for the season and still right in the finals hunt in eighth spot on the ladder.

I must admit I didn't see Phoenix contending for the top six a month ago, but they've reeled off back-to-back wins over fellow bottom half teams Perth and Brisbane to move to within one point of Macarthur in sixth.

After dispatching Glory 2-0 at home, Wellington went on the road and came from a goal down to topple the Roar 2-1.

Corban Piper scored from a set piece to equalise (and also land our $7.00 anytime goalscorer play) before Ifeanyi Eze fired home in the 88th minute for the winner and his ninth goal of the season.
