Central Coast Mariners are poised to take on Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium in the A-League Round 16. The Roar have been on a downward spiral, losing five of their last six games. Meanwhile, the Mariners have found form, going unbeaten in four of their last five matches. The game promises excitement with both teams likely to score. A previous match between the two ended in a narrow 2-1 win for Brisbane, but the Mariners' recent form suggests they could avoid defeat this time.

Brisbane Roar vs Central Coast Mariners Tips & Prediction

Central Coast Mariners will be looking to condemn the slumping Brisbane Roar to more misery when the two sides clash at Suncorp Stadium on Saturday in A-League Round 16.

Brisbane have come crashing back down to earth after a great start to the season, tumbling out of the top six following five defeats from their last six outings. No team have collected fewer points across the last five fixtures than the Roar and they are under pressure to stop the rot with this home game against one of the weaker sides in the competition.

However, the Mariners are actually playing their best football for the season coming into this clash, going unbeaten in four of their last six games and upsetting Melbourne Victory with 10 men last week. It took a stoppage time winner for Brisbane to beat the Mariners earlier this season and they were in far better form at that stage. I think there's value in backing Central Coast to avoid defeat, while both teams to score seems likely. Miguel Di Pizio can get involved amongst the goals, with added value on a correct score 2-1 win for the Coasties.

Brisbane Roar vs Central Coast Mariners Head To Head

Brisbane have won the last two encounters, including a 2-1 triumph on New Year's Eve, with Justin Vidic heading home the winner in stoppage time.

Brisbane Roar Form Analysis

The Roar have stumbled after a fantastic start to the season, currently sitting in seventh spot on the ladder after occupying the top four for months.

Brisbane have lost five of their last six games and have managed just two wins from their last nine - and they were against fellow bottom-six sides Central Coast and Perth.

After a heartbreaking last-minute loss to Adelaide, the Roar went on the road and were humbled by the high-flying Newcastle Jets last week.

Brisbane were no match for the Jets' high-octane football and were demolished 4-1, with new striker Nick D'Agostino failing to make an impact off the bench. The Socceroos striker should get more chances in this clash, with Chris Long suspended after being sent off last week.

Central Coast Mariners Form Analysis

It's been a tough season for the Mariners, but they keep plugging away and have hauled themselves off the bottom of the ladder heading into Round 16.

Warren Moon's side have played some good football over the last month, going unbeaten in four of their last five games.

The Mariners beat Adelaide 4-0 and earned draws on the road against Auckland and Macarthur before upsetting Melbourne Victory 1-0 at home last week - despite being reduced to 10 men after defender Nathan Paull was shown a straight red.

Ali Auglah's 35th minute goal proved decisive, with the winger scoring a stunning curling effort to hand his side all three points.
