The box office Jets are on fire, putting together a club-record five-match winning steak to surge into top spot on the ladder. Newcastle are the most exciting team to watch in the competition by far, scoring a whopping 34 goals in their 16 games - but they've also conceded the second-most with 26. However, who cares if you can consistently outscore your opponents right? Adelaide meanwhile shared the spoils last week with Macarthur to remain in the top six and will be out to snap a two-match losing run to the Jets, who knocked them out of the Australia Cup in preseason.

I'm going to stick with the Jets here. Mark Milligan's side are dispatching all-comers at the moment and putting on a show in the process, scoring four goals in their last two victories. Adelaide will also be very much in the mix at Coopers, but the Jets simply have more firepower at the moment. Backing Over 3.5 goals, with Clayton Taylor continuing his recent goalscoring form.

This will be the first meeting between the clubs this season. The Jets prevailed 2-1 in the Australia Cup before going on to secure the silverware in preseason.

Adelaide come into this contest having registered a 7-2-6 record for the season, sitting in fifth spot on the ladder after 15 rounds.

It's been a decent season so far for Adelaide, but they are still plagued by inconsistency and poor form on the road.

However, the Reds did come away with a rare away win against Brisbane as Brody Burkitt scored a second half hat-trick in a 3-2 victory before last week's 1-1 draw at home with Macarthur.

Johnny Yull continued his good form, scoring the opening goal of the game to go with two assists from his last three appearances.

Newcastle Jets Form Analysis

It's been a stunning season for the Jets, who come into this clash on the back of a five-game winning streak that has propelled them to the top of the table.

Newcastle have scored 14 goals in that period, including back-to-back 4-1 triumphs over Wellington and Brisbane at home over the last fortnight.

Mark Milligan was recently named Manager of the Month for January, with the rookie coach doing a tremendous job in his debut season at the Jets.

Lachie Bayliss was on target with a second half brace against Brisbane last week, while Lachie Rose and Clayton Taylor also found the back of the net. It was the Jets' biggest crowd at McDonald Jones Stadium since they made the Grand Final in 2018.

“It was really encouraging to see more than 12,000 people at McDonald Jones Stadium last week," defender Daniel Wilmering said.

“I believe someone said it was the biggest turnout there since 2018. But, we’ve got to ensure they return. We can’t just pat ourselves on the back; we’ve got to maintain those performances and results.”
