Well done if you'd circled this Round 10 game pre-season as one of the most highly-anticipated of the year, with the table-topping Bulldogs coming up against Sticky's sensational second-placed Raiders. It promises to be a cracking contest and I think it could go right down to the wire - but I'm putting my eggs in the Raiders' basket.
A huge part of Canterbury's success (apart from their rock solid defence) is their forward pack and they've suffered a huge blow in that regard, with Jacob Preston suspended for the next four games, joining Josh Curran and Sitili Tupouniua on the sidelines. Canberra's own forward pack is as tough as they come and the Doggies could struggle to match their muscle through the middle for 80 minutes.
The Green Machine have also enjoyed tremendous success in this matchup over recent years, winning nine of the last 10 meetings between the teams, while the Dogs haven't won at GIO Stadium since 2015 - this has been a decade-long hoodoo venue for the club. Crucially, eight of those nine wins for Canberra were by a 1-12 margin too. I've mentioned before that the Raiders rarely blow teams off the park - it's a gradual grind for Ricky Stuart's side, with 13 of their last 16 victories dating back to last season also being decided by 1-12 points.
In terms of an Anytime Tryscorer, I'm backing Matt Timoko - the nuggety Raiders centre bulldozed his way over from close to the line in last week's magical Golden Point win over Melbourne and he's scored four tries in his last four games against the Bulldogs.
- Raiders have won seven of their nine games this season
- Raiders have seen a 1-12 margin in 13 of their last 16 wins
- Raiders have won nine of their last 10 games vs Bulldogs
- Eight of those wins were by a 1-12 margin
- Matt Timoko has scored four tries in his last four games vs Bulldogs & crossed last week vs Storm
- Bulldogs conceded two tries to centres last week vs Titans
Head To Head
As mentioned, the Raiders have won nine of the last 10 games between the teams - but they did split victories in 2024, with Canberra prevailing 24-20 in Round 11 before Canterbury's 22-18 triumph in Round 22.

It's been a brilliant start to the season for the Raiders - they've kicked on from their dominant dispatch of the Warriors in Vegas and registered a 7-2 record across the opening nine rounds, coming into this contest in second spot on the ladder.
Canberra are on a five-match winning streak as they prepare for this clash, highlighted by last week's sensational comeback victory over the Storm in golden point.
The Raiders recovered from a 14-0 deficit, forcing extra-time after some outstanding lead-up work from Matty Nicholson put Kaio Weekes away, with the fullback bringing back memories of Billy Slater at Suncorp as he chipped & chased his way to a four-pointer. Jamal Fogarty then kicked a penalty goal in golden point to hand Canberra a memorable 20-18 victory.

It's been a dream start to the season for the Bulldogs, with the team putting together a 7-1 record to be flying high at the top of the table.
Canterbury's success has been on the back of some classic Cameron Ciraldo defence - they've conceded just 118 points across their eight games at an average of just 14.75 points per match.
However, the Dogs lost a bit of their aura over the last fortnight at Suncorp - they were absolutely pummelled 42-18 by the Broncos and I thought their attack was flat and clunky in their 38-18 win over the Titans - it was more Gold Coast's dreadful performance that contributed to the heavy scoreline.

Canterbury Bulldogs Team News
Massive out for the Dogs as Jacob Preston was suspended for the next four weeks following his crusher tackle last week. A reshuffle in the pack will likely see either Kurtis Morrin or Harry Hayes come into the starting side.
In better news for Canterbury, five-eighth Matt Burton is back from his own suspension, with Bailey Hayward dropping back to the bench.
