Kembla Grange hosts a competitive provincial racing program on June 2, featuring seven races and a strong focus on runners proven in wet conditions. The best bet is Our Lady Peace in Race 1, who has solid form at the track despite limited heavy ground exposure. Smoke 'N' Darts is a strong chance in Race 4, while Brannum offers each-way value in Race 6. Aerostern Bro is an attractive roughie given his affinity for wet tracks. The key recommendation is to back horses with proven wet-track credentials throughout the meeting.

Kembla Grange hosts a competitive seven-race provincial program on Tuesday, with several lightly raced gallopers looking well placed to take the next step in their preparations.

Wet-track form could prove a key factor throughout the meeting, with a number of leading chances bringing strong rain-affected credentials into their respective assignments.

Kembla Grange Tips June 2

PFD Food Services Maiden Plate Tips (Race 1)

Kembla Grange Best Bet - Race 1 No. 13 Our Lady Peace

Our Lady Peace has shown a liking for this venue, placing in the top three in her two most recent starts here.

Both of those efforts have come on sound surfaces, including a one-length third over this course on her latest appearance.

While unproven on the forecast Heavy going, she did produce a solid effort when fourth on a Soft 6 surface at Wyong in March on her wet-track debut.

The youngster picked off rivals late after being ridden cold that day and, while beaten six-and-a-half lengths, it is worth noting she was first-up.

Gary Portelli’s representative has improved in three subsequent starts, including the two previously mentioned course efforts, while barrier seven should pose no issue with Andrew Adkins, who has ridden her in two of four starts this preparation, booked to ride.

Kembla Grange Roughie - Race 3 No. 8 Aerostern Bro

Jarrod Austin’s gelding has had plenty of chances with 10 starts to his name, however his best efforts have come in wet conditions.

Those performances include top-four finishes in both appearances on Heavy ground, including a fourth over 1400m at Orange in February when beaten two lengths.

The four-year-old has recorded three good efforts in defeat since, with the pick of them seeing him beaten less than a length in a Class 1 and Maiden event over 1800m at Bathurst on his penultimate start.

Aerostern Bro contested a similar race at Bathurst subsequently and the return to a wet track looks a positive after racing on Good ground that day.

The son of Astern finished fourth from a wide barrier there and, while a couple of less-exposed rivals dominate the market, he may prove capable of scoring at big odds.

Craig Hamilton Provincial Maiden Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Kembla Grange Next Best - Race 4 No. 1 Smoke ‘N’ Darts

The three-year-old has shown up well, finishing second at Hawkesbury in all three previous race appearances.

Two of those placings came on wet tracks, including when debuting over 1100m back in March.

The gelding was beaten just over a length that day and has had wide barriers to contend with in both subsequent starts.

The son of North Pacific has featured prominently in betting on each occasion, most recently when beaten just over two lengths in an 1100m event here last month.

While no match for an impressive winner that day, he was clearly second best in the field and, after staying on strongly, the extra distance here is expected to suit, while Heavy conditions should not pose any concerns.

Kembla Grange Value Bet - Race 6 No. 3 Brannum

There is plenty to like about the consistent gelding, who has registered top-three finishes in four of his five starts since resuming at Goulburn in February.

All four of those placings have come on wet tracks, including when beaten less than half a length in a Class 1 handicap at Hawkesbury last time out.

The four-year-old started at big odds in that 1600m contest after finishing down the field in a 1900m Benchmark 64 handicap at Newcastle on his previous appearance.

Theresa Bateup’s galloper appeared to find the Newcastle trip too far and was also bumped at the start by a rival.

The drop back to 1500m poses no issue, having broken his maiden over a shorter journey at Moruya earlier this season, while the booking of Tyler Schiller catches the eye from barrier five.
