Albury Tips May 26

Redi2hire Country Boosted Maiden Plate Tips (Race 3)

Albury Value Bet - Race 3 No. 6 Hot Toddy

The gelding recorded some good efforts on wet surfaces earlier this season, including a third in a 1400m maiden at Wagga at the end of September.

The pick was beaten just under one-and-a-half lengths on a Soft 5 surface that day, having previously recorded a fourth on similar going at Wangaratta.

The five-year-old was spelled following that effort and returned to Wagga for a 1300m maiden first-up last preparation.

The son of Prized Icon performed with credit in finishing fourth there before featuring prominently in betting at Corowa subsequently, where he was eased out and later found to be lame.

Doug Gorrel’s representative has since shaped well in a Corowa jump-out and, while he has had plenty of chances, he appeals as value in this company.

Albury Roughie - Race 4 No. 11 Etched In Blue

Toby Lake’s gelding showed a liking for this venue when finishing second here in December.

Racing over this distance, the youngster was beaten just under three lengths on a Good 4 surface that day.

The selection settled off the pace there before failing to fire when ridden closer to the speed at Yarra Valley next start.

The three-year-old ended that campaign with a seventh-of-nine finish at Kilmore in February after contesting a 1450m maiden.

Etched In Blue has recorded three fifth-place finishes in jump-outs ahead of his return, including at Bendigo last week, and he looks capable of surprising back at the scene of his best run.

Albury Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 3 Justifiably

The five-year-old broke through for his first win of the season when saluting at Canberra at the start of last month.

That success came on a Soft 5 track and confirmed the gelding’s liking for rain-affected ground.

Justifiably also boasts winning Heavy-track form and the Canberra race has produced subsequent winners from behind him.

The gelding then backed up that performance with a strong second at Queanbeyan before failing to fire at Wagga last start.

A drop back from Benchmark 66 company looks a positive and any rain around would only enhance his chances.

Choices Flooring Wodonga Benchmark 58 Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Albury Best Bet - Race 7 No. 2 With Strength

The son of Grunt ticks plenty of boxes here, including proven form on wet tracks.

The four-year-old went close in a 900m maiden on a Soft surface at this venue before breaking through on Heavy ground at Wodonga the following month.

All five runs since have come on firmer tracks, including two runner-up finishes this preparation.

The latest of those saw the gelding beaten just under half-a-length as favourite in a Class 3 at Corowa earlier this month.

With Strength hit the line strongly there in the manner of a horse who should appreciate the rise in trip on Tuesday.
