In a highly anticipated quarter-final clash at the Wuhan Open, Aryna Sabalenka, World No. 1 and undefeated in Wuhan, faces Elena Rybakina. Sabalenka leads their head-to-head 7-5 but has always required a deciding set for her victories. Sabalenka aims to extend her streak after a robust season, including a US Open win. Rybakina, though consistent, seeks a standout victory to add to her season highlights. With both players in strong form, expect a close match that could likely extend beyond 21.5 games, with Sabalenka favored for a thrilling three-set win.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Elena Rybakina Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka continues her pursuit of a fourth Wuhan Open title when she comes up against a familiar foe in Elena Rybakina in the quarter-finals on Friday.

Sabalenka has a flawless 19-0 record in Wuhan, winning the title in her three previous appearances, while she's also on an eight-match winning streak after defending her US Open title last month. Meanwhile, Rybakina has remained inside the top 10 for most of the season despite the lack of a real standout result - could she be building towards something special in Wuhan?

Rybakina has enjoyed success against Sabalenka - in fact, she's won five of the six hardcourt meetings between the pair, including in Cincinnati just prior to the US Open. Another interesting stat in their H2H - Sabalenka leads 7-5 overall, but all seven of those wins have required a deciding set. It all points to another tight showdown in Wuhan between the pair. I'm leaning slightly towards Sabalenka and if she does prevail, then the $4.20 on offer for a three-set victory appeals.

Head To Head

As mentioned, Sabalenka leads 7-5. The pair have squared off twice in 2025, with Sabalenka winning in a deciding set tiebreak in Berlin before Rybakina returned serve with a straight sets victory in the Cincinnati quarter-finals.

Aryna Sabalenka Form

Sabalenka has registered a 58-10 record on the season coming into this contest, winning four titles and remaining World No. 1 for the entire year.

Despite the disappointment of losing Australian Open and Roland Garros finals, it's been another successful year for Sabalenka - mostly due to her successfully defending her US Open title, landing a fourth major crown in the process.

The 27-year-old has also picked up silverware in Brisbane, Miami and Madrid this year, along with reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals.

Back in Wuhan for a crack at a fourth title, Sabalenka understandably started slowly as she came from a set down to beat Rebecca Sramkova - however, she had no such problems in the R16, comfortably accounting for Liudmila Samsonova 6-3 6-2.

Elena Rybakina Form

Rybakina has put together a 47-18 record for the season and arrived in Wuhan at No. 9 in the world.

It's been a solid year without really being too spectacular for Rybakina - her lone title came at the WTA 250 in Strasbourg, while she didn't advance beyond the R16 at any of the four slams.

The Kazakh has been solid at WTA 1000 level, reaching three semi-finals in Dubai, Montreal and Cincinnati - and now she'll be aiming for another final four appearance in Wuhan.

After a disappointing loss to Eva Lys in Beijing last week, Rybakina has advanced into the Wuhan quarter-finals without dropping a set, easing past Jaqueline Cristian and Linda Noskova.
