After enjoying a much-needed break between the French Open and grass swing, De Minaur appears to be in resurgent form and comes into this clash having won four of his last five matches. The Aussie is a former runner-up in Washington and has zero ranking points to defend at this tournament, along with the upcoming Masters 1000 events in Toronto and Cincinnati, so he has a great chance to return to the top 10 before the US Open.

This will prove a tough assignment, but I think de Minaur's consistency and overall hardcourt ability should propel him to a tight victory. Lehecka is capable of some spectacular tennis, but he repeatedly struggles with his consistency and fitness issues. The Czech is coming off a disappointing second round exit at Wimbledon and scraped by the World No. 153 in three sets in his Washington opener. De Minaur in three offers some solid value here.

Currently locked at 1-1. De Minaur prevailed 4-6 7-6 7-5 in the 2023 Davis Cup Finals before Lehecka returned serve with a dominant 6-4 6-2 victory on the grass of Queen's Club earlier this season.

De Minaur comes into this contest with a 31-13 record on the season and chasing his first title of 2025 here in the American capital.

It's been a typically solid season for de Minaur - he made his first Australian Open quarter-final and finished runner-up in Rotterdam, along with reaching the Monte Carlo Masters semi-finals and the R16 at Wimbledon, where he really should have pushed Novak Djokovic to a fifth set.

The Aussie missed this stage of the season last year with a hip injury and will be hoping to collect some valuable ranking points over the coming months - although he is defending US Open quarter-final points after reaching the last eight in New York on basically one hip.

De Minaur got his Washington campaign up and running with a no-nonsense 6-2 7-5 victory over China's Yunchaokete Bu in his opening match.

Jiri Lehecka Form

Lehecka has registered a 26-14 record on the season, with eight of those victories coming in his opening two events of the season.

The Czech won his second ATP title in Brisbane before reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open, falling to Djokovic.

Consistency continues to be an issue for Lehecka - he's made the Doha semi-finals and finished runner-up at Queen's Club, but also suffered early exits at Wimbledon and Roland Garros, although he had the misfortune of drawing Jannik Sinner in the latter.

After a disappointing second round loss at Wimbledon to Mattia Bellucci, Lehecka is making his tournament debut in Washington, edging out qualifier Zachary Svajda 6-4 6-7 6-3 in his opener.
