Alex de Minaur vs Hugo Dellien Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Demon to cruise into Rome R16

De Minaur has improved his clay court game considerably over the last 12 months and is now a genuine top 10 player on the surface - and the Aussie should be set for a relatively routine victory and a spot in the R16 first up on Monday.

Dellien has only won two tour-level matches in 2025 and was fortunate enough to secure a lucky loser entry into the Rome main draw, where he made the most of his second opportunity by beating Thiago Seyboth Wild to earn a place in the third round. However, Dellien has been struggling for a while now on tour and has dropped out of the top 100. The Bolivian is also 0-7 vs top 10 players throughout his career. De Minaur has developed a reputation for almost always beating those ranked below him, so I'm not expecting too much trouble for the World No. 8 here.

De Minaur leads 2-0, prevailing 6-1 7-5 at Basel 2019 and 6-1 6-3 7-5 at Wimbledon in 2022.

Nobody has won more matches than de Minaur in 2025 - he's registered a 25-9 record for the season, cementing his spot inside the world's top 10.

There were some lingering questions about whether de Minaur could continue his improvements on clay - a surface which he had struggled on in the past.

However, de Minaur has been impressive on the dirt, reaching the Monte Carlo semi-finals, Barcelona quarter-finals and Madrid R16, losing twice to Lorenzo Musetti and once to Carlos Alcaraz.

De Minaur's draw has opened up nicely in Rome and another deep run is on the cards - he opened his campaign with a comfortable 6-4 7-5 win over Luca Nardi.

Dellien comes into this contest with a 2-2 record at tour-level in 2025, almost exclusively competing on the Challenger circuit as he looks to rebuild his ranking.

That wasn't going so well, but a bit of good fortune in Rome has seen Dellien go from losing in qualifying to making the third round of the main draw - results that should see him re-enter the top 100 at the end of the week.

The Bolivian arrived in Rome having lost six of his last eight matches, but perhaps this week will provide him with some confidence going forward for the remainder of the season.

Dellien is 0-7 against top 10 players and the only two other times he has advanced past the first round of a Masters 1000 event, he's gone down vs Kei Nishikori (Madrid 2019) and Alexander Zverev (Rome 2021).
