Bledisloe Cup Game 2

Australia vs New Zealand Bledisloe Cup Game 2 Prediction & Tips

Australia return to home soil for the second and final Bledisloe Cup Test against New Zealand on Saturday, October 17, with the Wallabies desperate to restore some pride following last weekend's crushing 50-19 defeat at Eden Park.

The All Blacks have already secured the Bledisloe Cup for the 24th consecutive year, but there's little reason to expect Dave Rennie's side to take their foot off the accelerator. New Zealand ran in seven tries in Auckland, turning a narrow 17-14 half-time advantage into a commanding 31-point victory and extending their winning streak against Australia to 12 Tests.

The Wallabies now face another enormous challenge at Accor Stadium, with injuries forcing significant changes to their backline. New Zealand's attacking firepower and Australia's disrupted preparations make the visitors difficult to oppose, while the first Test also provides a strong case for another high-scoring encounter.

We've identified three best bets for Bledisloe Cup Game 2, including New Zealand to cover the handicap, the total points market and an anytime tryscorer selection.

Wallabies vs All Blacks Form Analysis & Match Preview

New Zealand produced one of their most impressive attacking performances of the season in the opening Test, running away with the contest after Australia had kept themselves within striking distance during the first half.

The All Blacks' ability to generate quick ball, exploit defensive mismatches and maintain their attacking intensity proved far too much for the Wallabies. Seven tries and 50 points underlined the gap between the teams, particularly as the match opened up after the interval.

For Australia, the challenge is not simply reversing that result but doing so with an increasingly unsettled backline. The Wallabies have now lost 12 consecutive Tests against New Zealand, and their most recent meeting at Accor Stadium also ended in defeat, with the All Blacks prevailing 31-28 in September 2024.

Home advantage should provide the Wallabies with additional motivation, but New Zealand enter Game 2 with significantly greater continuity in their key attacking combinations.

Wallabies vs All Blacks Team News

Wallabies Team News

Wallabies coach Les Kiss has been forced into several changes following the Eden Park defeat, with Ben Donaldson ruled out through an upper-leg injury and Declan Meredith promoted to starting flyhalf.

The absence of Len Ikitau through concussion, combined with Hunter Paisami's suspension, has also prompted a midfield reshuffle. Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii returns to outside centre, Isaac Henry shifts to inside centre and Harry Potter starts on the wing.

Up front, Aidan Ross replaces Angus Bell in the starting side, while Josh Nasser earns the starting hooker role after scoring from the bench in Game 1. Lukhan Salakaia-Loto will make his 50th Test appearance.

The replacements feature several fresh faces, including Josh Canham, Carlo Tizzano and uncapped playmaker Harry McLaughlin-Phillips, who is in line to make his Wallabies debut.

All Blacks Team News

New Zealand coach Dave Rennie has made three changes to his starting XV, with George Bower replacing Ethan de Groot at loosehead prop, Fabian Holland coming into the second row for Josh Lord and Josh Moorby taking over from the injured Leroy Carter on the left wing.

The All Blacks retain their dangerous attacking spine, with Cam Roigard and Damian McKenzie continuing in the halves, Beauden Barrett at fullback and Will Jordan on the right wing.

Codie Taylor will again captain the side, while Scott Barrett, Jordie Barrett and Wallace Sititi provide further experience throughout the starting XV.

New Zealand have also refreshed their bench, bringing in Samisoni Taukei'aho, Xavier Numia, Du'Plessis Kirifi, Cortez Ratima and Timoci Tavatavanawai.

Wallabies vs All Blacks - Best Bets for Bledisloe Cup Game 2

1. New Zealand -10.5 @ $1.90 with Picklebet

New Zealand's emphatic 50-19 victory in Auckland is difficult to ignore, particularly given how comprehensively the All Blacks took control once the game opened up in the second half.

Australia were competitive for the opening 40 minutes, trailing by just three points at the break, but their defensive structure deteriorated as New Zealand increased the tempo. The All Blacks scored another 33 points after half-time, highlighting their ability to turn sustained pressure into tries.

The Wallabies' injury problems make the task even more difficult this weekend. Losing Donaldson and Ikitau has forced changes in two crucial attacking and defensive positions, with Meredith taking over at flyhalf and a reshuffled centre combination tasked with containing New Zealand's dangerous backs.

Meanwhile, the All Blacks have retained most of the combinations responsible for last week's dominant performance. Roigard and McKenzie should again dictate proceedings, while Jordan, Moorby and Barrett provide plenty of finishing power out wide.

Australia will be desperate to respond in front of their home supporters, but New Zealand's superior cohesion and attacking execution make them the clear selection to cover a 10.5-point handicap.

2. Total Points Over 57.5 @ $1.70 with Picklebet

We're also expecting another high-scoring encounter, with Over 57.5 total points our second selection.
The opening Test produced a combined 69 points, comfortably clearing this weekend's line, and there were plenty of encouraging signs for another entertaining contest.

New Zealand demonstrated how quickly they can accumulate points when their forwards generate momentum. Their ability to create quick attacking ball and isolate defenders out wide resulted in seven tries at Eden Park, and the Wallabies' latest backline changes could create further opportunities.

Importantly, Australia also contributed 19 points in the opening Test despite spending significant periods on the back foot.

The Wallabies should have more opportunities to attack on home soil, particularly if they can improve their possession and territory. However, taking greater attacking risks could also leave them exposed to New Zealand's dangerous counterattacking game.

With the All Blacks capable of scoring heavily themselves and Australia needing to produce a more positive response, we're backing the two sides to combine for at least 58 points.

3. Will Jordan Anytime Tryscorer @ $1.60 with Unibet

Will Jordan continues to be one of the most reliable tryscoring threats in international rugby, making his anytime tryscorer market particularly appealing for Game 2.

The All Blacks winger has scored five tries across his last five appearances, including another against Australia in the opening Bledisloe Cup Test.

Jordan's combination of pace, anticipation and support play makes him exceptionally difficult to contain, particularly when New Zealand generate quick ball and stretch opposition defences.

His ability to finish opportunities is reflected in his wider international record. Jordan has already scored 11 Test tries in 2026, the most of any player in international rugby this year.

The Wallabies struggled to contain New Zealand's attacking threats at Eden Park, and their reshuffled midfield could provide Jordan with further opportunities to exploit space on the edges.

At $1.60, we're backing Jordan to continue his outstanding tryscoring form and cross the line at least once in Sydney.
