Everest Day takes over Randwick on Saturday with a stacked 10-race program offering more than $31 million in prizemoney and headlined by the $20 million TAB Everest.

The King Charles III Stakes adds another Group 1 to the card, while The Kosciuszko, Sydney Stakes and Silver Eagle give the meeting plenty of depth around the feature sprint.

Our race-by-race betting tips and selections for Randwick are below, with broader sports coverage available through Live Racing & Sports Updates.

Randwick Tips October 17

Race 1 - Big Dance Wild Card Tips (1600m)

6. Matias looks the runner with the most upside in a fairly thin Big Dance Wild Card.

Gelded after his two-year-old season, the Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained four-year-old was largely consistent through his first two preparations and showed there was staying ability there with some strong form over further.

His seasonal return in the Cameron Handicap at Newcastle was better than the fourth-place finish suggests, with the first three home simply better suited at the mile fresh. Matias has since been kept ticking over with an October 6 trial and should take plenty of improvement into this second-up assignment.

The query is whether 1600m is ultimately short of his best, but at just 53kg he receives weight from all the key chances bar It's A Knockout, who hasn't won in 16 months, and he looks to have significantly more scope than most of his opposition.

1. Tavi Time is becoming a little harder to place but remains capable of producing a powerful finish when conditions suit. His Cameron Handicap return was sound enough and he has since moved well in a Rosehill trial.

He owns solid second-up figures and handles both good and soft ground, although genuinely testing conditions would be less ideal.

7. It's A Knockout continues to race honestly despite her lengthy winning drought. She made ground in the Dubbo Cup last start and now drops 6kg from that September 27 assignment. She is hard fit, handles varying conditions and should again be competitive.

10. Mazis also comes through the Dubbo Cup and has been going better than the bare results suggest, with excuses in all three runs this preparation.

Selections: 6-1-7-10

Race 2 - Bisley Workwear Reginald Allen Quality Tips (1400m)

The John O'Shea and Tom Charlton stable has struck at an excellent rate with Zac Lloyd over the past 12 months and the combination again looks dangerous with 2. Pin Up Sheila.

The filly was beaten as favourite first-up on September 23, but the run can be virtually ignored after she never found clear room in the straight.

She has since produced an impressive Randwick trial victory on October 6 in a good open-class heat, suggesting she has come on nicely.

Pin Up Sheila showed plenty during her first campaign, leading throughout to score on a Heavy 8 at Canterbury before producing another comfortable Warwick Farm victory at start two.

She rises straight to 1400m but her breeding suggests the distance will hold no fears and this looks an ideal chance to pick up some black type against her own sex.

4. Saffron Veil had little luck in her first two Warwick Farm starts before breaking through at Canterbury on September 16.

Her earlier form has strengthened and she has since completed a maintenance trial in the same heat as Pin Up Sheila. The Chris Waller-trained filly still looks to have improvement to come and should appreciate getting out to 1400m.

5. Consulate could be a sharp improver. Her best performances late in her two-year-old season came on rain-affected tracks, including a Kensington maiden win, and the rise in distance second-up looks suitable.

1. Calamari Ring brings valuable race fitness north after three solid performances in Melbourne, with the form around Satono Glow and Over The Bridge reading well.

Selections: 2-4-5-1

Race 3 - Asahi Super Dry Angst Stakes Tips (1600m)

Each-way odds appeal about 2. Churchill's Choice, who looks extremely well placed getting back to the mile against her own sex.

Class took her a long way first-up in the Tibbie Stakes, where she came from well back to produce the fastest closing sectionals of the race and one of the better final 200m splits on Newcastle Gold Cup Day.

The Nathan Doyle-trained mare won the Hawkesbury Gold Cup over this distance at a big price for us in May, with that form subsequently working out through War Eternal and Middle Earth.

Churchill's Choice arguably should also have won the Scone Cup over the mile and later produced another excellent performance from an impossible position behind Surfin' Bird, who has since won at Group 3 level in Melbourne.

4. Vivy Air has had excuses in both runs this preparation.

Her Cameron Handicap return was better than the finishing position suggests, supported by the fastest final 200m of the race, before she never really found clear running in the Epsom Handicap and raced in inferior ground.

Back against mares third-up, she gets the chance to bounce off those performances. Her form through the likes of Headley Grange, Gringotts, Transatlantic and Lazzura is more than strong enough for this.

12. Pillow Fight is an honest on-speed performer who should now be approaching peak fitness third-up.

Blinkers go on after an improved second-up performance and her Group 2 placing behind Sass Appeal in the Kewney Stakes earlier this year is a solid reference for a race of this level.

8. Unleeshing returned to the winner's stall last start and has already shown she can peak deeper into a preparation, including a fourth-up track-and-distance win earlier this year.

Selections: 2-4-12-8

Race 4 - The Agency Real Estate St Leger Stakes Tips (2600m)

The circumstances around 1. Juja Kibo have been a little unusual, with the Metropolitan winner also attempting to sneak into the Caulfield Cup as the second emergency.

If he instead returns north for the St Leger, he clearly sets the standard.

The Ciaron Maher-trained six-year-old finally broke back into the winner's stall in The Metropolitan, beating the talented Aethelwulf after that emerging stayer arrived on a four-race winning streak that included the Newcastle Cup.

Juja Kibo had remained competitive throughout the autumn, but that was his first win since September 2025 and could be important from a confidence perspective.

He handles varying conditions, stays strongly and would arrive here fourth-up with a very solid platform.

4. So You Are continues to improve in his first campaign for Bjorn Baker and arrives off consecutive wins.

His latest came at Group 3 level after being asked to work earlier than ideal and carry significantly more weight than those who filled the minor placings. He was entitled to be vulnerable late but kept finding, and there is no knock on the way he is racing.

3. Klondike produced a better return than the result suggests in the Kingston Town Stakes, finishing off along the inside.

That was only his third Australian start and the lightly raced European import should be open to significant second-up improvement now getting to a genuine staying trip.

5. Athabascan continues to command respect in these races. He won this event two years ago and arguably produced the run of The Metropolitan outside Juja Kibo, getting home with the race's fastest final 200m.

Selections: 1-4-3-5

Race 5 - The Kosciuszko Tips (1200m)

As expected, there is plenty of depth in the $2 million Kosciuszko and 9. Lord Remlap looks one of the more progressive runners in the field.

The lightly raced Scott Singleton-trained sprinter won his first four starts, including a Highway over this track and trip, before stepping into stronger benchmark company at Rosehill on September 30.

There did not appear to be a great deal of urgency in that latest run with this feature clearly in mind. He landed in an awkward position and still worked home well in restricted room, with his closing sectionals rating strongly for the meeting.

Blinkers go on for the first time, he drops 4.5kg and should arrive with a solid fitness base. The only genuine unknown is testing ground, with the gelding yet to race on anything worse than a Soft 5.

5. Lisztomania has been very good to us and remains dangerous fresh.

We were on at 20/1 first-up at Eagle Farm in June before again saluting at double figures for us at Rosehill on August 29, with Kerrin McEvoy retaining the ride.

The key has been keeping him around 1200m and spacing his races. He needs luck because of his racing pattern, but if the breaks come he can unleash a strong finish.

10. So You Pence has built a tidy record despite being lightly raced for a seven-year-old.

She finished fifth in this race last year before dominating the Barn Dance on Melbourne Cup Day and later resumed with a win over this track and trip in July. She has not been seen since, but Matthew Dale is more than capable of producing one ready without a public trial and this has clearly been the target.

8. Considered has not fired in two runs this preparation but could improve dramatically on rain-affected ground.

She was beaten as favourite in the Country Championships Final here during the autumn after winning her previous four starts and has a much stronger profile on wet tracks.

Selections: 9-5-10-8

Race 6 - Toyota Forklifts Sydney Stakes Tips (1200m)

The Sydney Stakes is as open as ever and there is enough upside at the price to give 2. Jokers Grin another chance.

The former West Australian had several setbacks before his first appearance for Chris Waller in The Shorts and, despite that interrupted preparation, there was still some market confidence.

He failed to fire, but reports since have been more encouraging and his October 2 Rosehill trial suggested he has taken a significant step forward.

There is clearly risk attached after the first-up failure, but he was a high-class sprinter in Western Australia and now has a race and another trial under his belt. He certainly has the talent to put away this lot.

7. Beadman can give this a serious shake if he reproduces his Concorde Stakes return behind Tempted and Headwall.

He was perhaps slightly disappointing in the Manikato Stakes, but that was only his second Melbourne appearance and all of his strongest racing has come clockwise. His only previous trip south had also resulted in a failure in the Coolmore Stud Stakes.

Back at Randwick, he looks better suited.

6. Grafterburners has been luckless in both appearances this campaign and his efforts have been better than the bare form suggests.

Both runs came in strong Everest lead-ups and he looks capable of measuring up well in the consolation if he gets clear running.

13. Skybird broke a lengthy drought at Flemington last start and is particularly effective on rain-affected ground. Her previous visit to Randwick produced a third placing in the Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes in April.

Selections: 2-7-6-13

Race 7 - The TAB Everest Tips (1200m)

A devastating latest performance only reinforced 1. Ka Ying Rising's standing as the world's premier sprinter.

The Hong Kong champion smashed his own Sha Tin 1200m record when clocking 1:06.11 in a 7.75-length demolition, extending his winning streak to 21 and earning an international rating of 135.

The main question heading into Saturday is the weather, with connections understandably favouring firmer ground, although it is difficult to mark him down for something he simply hasn't encountered on race day.

Barrier 11 holds few fears for such a powerful on-speed galloper and he already has Randwick experience after winning last year's Everest. The scary part for his rivals is that he arguably wasn't at his best that day and returns 12 months later an even better horse.

He arrives off the most dominant performance of his career and remains extremely difficult to oppose.

9. Tempted returns for her second Everest as a much more mature mare and looks the clear pick of the Australian challengers.

Her only defeat in seven Randwick appearances came behind Ka Ying Rising in this race last year, while she has gone unbeaten through 2026 and produced arguably her best performance when exploding away with the Premiere Stakes last start.

Ciaron Maher appears to have timed the preparation perfectly and she should peak third-up. Barrier one is the slight query given her preference for settling before producing one run, but she handles both good and rain-affected ground and has an outstanding Randwick 1200m record.

3. Giga Kick is now seven but has still raced only 25 times after injuries interrupted what once looked an extraordinary career.

The 2022 Everest winner was runner-up in this race two years later before returning to Group 1-winning form in last year's Champions Sprint.

His best performances have often come third-up and he reaches that point again after the Moir and Manikato Stakes, plus a subsequent jump-out. He is not as reliable as he once was, but his best remains good enough to trouble any of the local sprinters and some give in the ground would suit.

6. Headwall can add value to exotics after an unlucky first-up second behind Tempted in the Concorde Stakes.

He was less prominent in The Shorts, but that remains his only failure to finish in the money at Randwick and he should now be nearing peak fitness third-up.

Selections: 1-9-3-6

Race 8 - Silver Eagle Tips (1300m)

The market was always likely to focus on Beiwacht and Skyhook, but there is enough uncertainty around the second favourite to look for value elsewhere.

Beiwacht is already a three-time Group 1 winner and produced a dominant Memsie Stakes victory first-up, but his Manikato Stakes performance was poor even allowing for the drop back to 1200m.

The extra 100m suits and he should be able to roll forward again, but he is a horse who may now be looking for slightly further and is difficult to trust at a short quote after the latest effort.

That makes 6. Roulette King a fascinating speculative play at huge odds.

The Trevor Rogers-trained four-year-old impressed on debut before reeling off another four wins, progressing from benchmark grade all the way to Group 2 company before spelling.

He has been specifically prepared towards the Golden Eagle and has had a long build-up, beginning his jump-out program in August before completing another three hit-outs during September.

Regular rider Jamie Mott travels north and, while there is an obvious question over how his form measures against this field, there is still no telling where his ceiling sits.

At the price, he has enough talent to warrant a small play.

3. Skyhook remains the obvious benchmark after winning four of his past five.

He landed good bets for us in the Theo Marks Stakes first-up and was even stronger when leading throughout in the Shannon Stakes. There is more depth here, but he is flying and Kerrin McEvoy should again have him in a prominent position.

4. Brave Monarch is another at a big price who deserves inclusion.

He carried a big weight when third in the Weetwood fresh and should improve from that return. During the Queensland winter he won both the Daybreak Lover and Queensland Guineas before finishing fourth in the Fred Best Classic when not far off Skyhook.

The early market looks generous for a horse with that level of form.

8. Decorum faces his toughest test since the Randwick Guineas, but he has returned a better horse after being gelded.

He resumed with wins in BM78 and BM88 company and now gets the chance to prove himself at stakes level third-up.

Selections: 6-3-4-8

Race 9 - King Charles III Stakes Tips (1609m)

The King Charles III Stakes had already attracted a small field before the scratching of Pride Of Jenni reduced it to five, and her absence changes the shape of the race significantly.

That looks to favour 5. Autumn Glow, who has established herself as one of Australia's most professional and consistent gallopers.

Her unbeaten streak ended when third in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 2000m during the autumn, but her overall record remains outstanding at 13 wins from 14 starts.

She resumed this spring by comfortably defeating Sheza Alibi in the Winx Stakes before producing another dominant display in the Seven Stakes over the Randwick mile.

That second-up performance came without needing to be extended and she now reaches the main target of the campaign third-up.

With Pride Of Jenni out, James McDonald has significantly more tactical freedom. Just Folk should roll forward, while Autumn Glow can settle wherever she is most comfortable and use her acceleration when required.

She deserves to be a clear favourite.

1. Ceolwulf is chasing an extraordinary third consecutive King Charles III Stakes victory and has been specifically prepared to peak here.

Pride Of Jenni's scratching is probably less helpful for him, given a strong, genuine tempo would have played into his strengths, but he now reaches the race with four runs under his belt and blinkers go back on.

He is proven across varying conditions and, on ratings and established Group 1 form, clearly remains the biggest threat to the favourite.

2. God's Window is the danger to Ceolwulf for second.

The Chris Waller-trained gelding produced a career-best performance to win the Epsom Handicap at his latest start and remains underrated despite now having a Group 1 mile on his résumé.

He does meet Ceolwulf significantly worse at the weights compared with the Epsom, but he was only second-up there and particularly enjoys rain-affected ground.

3. Just Folk and 4. Militarize look likely to fight out the remaining minor placing, with a slight lean towards Just Folk given his tactical advantage and consistent recent form across Melbourne and Sydney.

Selections: 5-1-2-3

Race 10 - HKJC World Pool Handicap Tips (1400m)

Despite the wide draw, 3. Cross Tasman deserves favouritism in the Everest Day finale.

The John O'Shea and Tom Charlton-trained gelding has put together an extremely consistent record, having not missed the top three since a debut fourth.

Blinkers go on for the first time and there is a strong argument that he is at his best with some give in the ground, highlighted by a dominant Heavy 8 victory in January.

Cross Tasman resumed in a strongly run Goulburn Cup before pushing the smart Decorum second-up on September 26 after five weeks between runs.

He does not have to meet that rival again, now has better race fitness and gets back to what looks his ideal distance at 1400m.

The 60kg and barrier 14 create challenges, but his reliability and strong Randwick record make him difficult to oppose.

18. Ertijaaj still requires a scratching to make the field but could be very dangerous if she gets a start.

The lightly raced Chris Waller mare returned with a Rosehill victory on September 30 despite drifting in the market and drops right to the 52kg minimum here.

She has already shown she handles rain-affected ground and has plenty of upside compared with many of these.

1. Estremo is another who can improve.

His October 3 Randwick return was better than the result suggests, with his work through and beyond the line particularly encouraging. The rise to 1400m suits and Siena Grima's 2kg claim provides some relief from the top weight.

14. Test Of Love is a smoky. He had little luck first-up at Mornington and showed last campaign that he can improve sharply with racing, including wins on both soft and heavy ground.

Selections: 3-18-1-14
