Warwick Farm Favourite - Race 3 No. 5 Just Maz

The early market is warming to two Canterbury debut winners, Farindira and Just Maz.

Farindira led throughout when saluting on February 20, while Just Maz broke through on January 23 as a heavily supported favourite.

Although it was only a narrow debut victory for the three-year-old, she showed determination to reel in the leader, who gave a strong kick, and she was far from the finished product, which was understandable given it was her first race-day appearance.

Just Maz arrived at that assignment off a strong Rosehill trial win on January 2, which rated well for maiden grade.

Natural improvement is expected at start two.

Schweppes Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Warwick Farm Value Bet - Race 4 No. 5 Zielle

She saluted over this distance at Newcastle last winter before a spell and backed that up with a strong second-up performance at Goulburn on February 12, where she ran the fastest final 200m of the program over 300m.

The extra 100m third-up looks ideal for Zielle, who returns to her home track of Warwick Farm for this midweek assignment.

It is technically a rise in grade, although not an impossible one against her own sex, and she receives a sharp drop in the weights.

Prior to that second-up effort, she was unlucky when resuming on January 27, striking restricted room in the home straight.

With race fitness now on her side, Zielle shapes as a value contender.

Warwick Farm Best Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Suit Of Armour

It was a terrific February for the O'Shea and Charlton stable, which recorded 13 winners and 19 placegetters from 53 starters last month.

March has begun strongly as well, with their only runner on Tuesday’s Kembla Grange card saluting in fine style.

They prepare Suit Of Armour, a still lightly raced six-year-old building back from a lengthy layoff.

Despite a break of just under two years, both runs this campaign suggest he is progressing well, with a solid return over 1550m at Canterbury followed by improvement when stepping up to 1900m on February 13.

The rise in distance is in his favour on Wednesday and, with further progression third-up, he can bring up win number three.

Warwick Farm Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 10 Ready To Shine

Ready To Shine is a lightly raced five-year-old from the Matthew Smith stable who improved with each summer trial, taking out his final heat at Hawkesbury before resuming at Canterbury.

After a solid fresh effort, he progressed when finishing third-of-nine over 1100m second-up, where he peaked late after chasing the hard-fit Kimberley Secrets, an in-form galloper heading into that race.

Kimberley Secrets backed up seven days later to finish runner-up to the unbeaten Bev’s Nine in last Friday’s Sprint Series Final.

There does not appear to be significant depth to this BM72, and the extra 100m looks suitable at this stage of the campaign.

With further improvement third-up on Wednesday, Ready To Shine can capitalise on his encouraging lead-up runs.
