Wangaratta Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 10 Cha Ching King

A strong series of jump-outs at Wangaratta preceded Cha Ching King's debut, with the gelding following a runner-up effort with back-to-back wins in his next two hit-outs.

He then stepped out over this course and distance at the end of last month, where he raced wide without cover on a Heavy 9 and still finished less than two lengths from the winner.

That was a highly promising first race-day appearance, with the three-year-old doing plenty wrong in the run yet still finding only a more experienced rival too strong.

The form has already received some support, with the third and fifth both subsequently finishing runner-up, while the son of Prague should have taken plenty of improvement from the experience.

Logan McNeil retains the ride and, while the wide draw is a concern, Cha Ching King looks capable of giving trainer Andrew Dale a win in the race named in his honour.

Wangaratta Value Bet - Race 5 No. 13 Miss Himalaya

Three solid runs in defeat have followed Miss Himalaya's fourth career victory at Wodonga in June, with all three subsequent efforts coming on Heavy ground.

The latest came at Bendigo in Benchmark 66 company, where the six-year-old finished fourth and was beaten just under four lengths in an eight-runner field.

Dropping back in distance, she was ridden cold from barrier seven and kept on well late, while previous efforts have shown she is tactically versatile enough to take up a more prominent position if required.

The drop back to Benchmark 56 level is a clear positive, and Miss Himalaya also receives weight from all but one of her rivals.

Regular rider Caitlin Hollowood stays aboard for David Dean, and with an inside draw plus blinkers returning, the mare looks a value chance to get back into the winner's circle.

Wangaratta Roughie - Race 6 No. 4 Jumpinmycar

The drop in grade catches the eye with Jumpinmycar after a promising first-up effort at Seymour in Benchmark 62 company.

He was slowly away from a wide draw and ridden cold over 1200m, yet still finished just over three lengths from the winner on a Soft 7.

The gelding met trouble around the 150m mark and may have finished closer with a cleaner passage, while that run should also have brought him on after two quiet Cranbourne jump-outs.

Heavy ground should not be a major concern given the son of Toronado performed with credit in testing conditions on debut last November.

Jake Noonan knows him well from two rides last preparation and, from barrier eight, Jumpinmycar can improve sharply enough to trouble some better-fancied rivals.

Wangaratta Best Bet - Race 8 No. 2 Lightning Flash

A strong record at Wangaratta gives Lightning Flash obvious appeal, with the Ben Brisbourne-trained mare having won two of her four starts at the venue.

The most recent came in July when she powered away to score by more than six lengths over 1590m in testing conditions.

She then returned over the same course and distance and was beaten only around one-and-a-half lengths when finishing fifth, before stepping up to 2050m at Wodonga on Monday.

Ridden cold from an inside draw, the seven-year-old finished strongly to secure a narrow victory at this Benchmark 56 level, with the first two pulling more than two-and-a-half lengths clear of the third.

She has to concede weight to all but one rival here, but Lightning Flash's track record, recent form and versatility over ground give her a strong chance of following up with Billy Egan aboard for the first time.
