Sandown Best Bet - Race 5 No. 8 Ten Deep

While she had to settle for a runner-up finish, it was still an encouraging return from Ten Deep and with improvement to come, the four-year-old can go one better over 1400m.

The Moody & Coleman-trained galloper ran into a hard fit Silver Cliff in her July 2 resumption, who she opposes again on Wednesday and this mare has more upside than that key rival.

Ten Deep hasn't finished out of the money in six Australian starts, with her biggest win coming second-up, while there was strong subsequent form through Justadeel and Splash Back.

Sandown Favourite - Race 6 No. 4 Justadeel

He's returning off a long break, with Justadeel having last raced in July 2024 and while that's an obvious knock, his late three-year-old form suggests that he's clearly the class runner in this field.

The son of Dundeel took out the Silverbowl Final via his last race day appearance and in the process, he beat two genuine stakes-class horses in Rise At Dawn and Craig.

That Flemington feature also included Enxuto and La Fracas, who are both metro-class gallopers and Justadeel appears forward enough going off his recent lead-up work.

Sandown Roughie - Race 7 No. 5 Almairac

Nothing was expected fresh from Almairac, where he started at 70/1 for a 1400m BM74 at Sandown and while he didn't threaten, it was a better effort than it reads on paper.

The lightly raced five-year-old then stepped up to 2000m for a Saturday BM78 at Caulfield and despite being keen in transit, he finished off well via that second-up performance.

There's still upside with Almairac, who was progressing nicely over autumn and winter last year, with a 2200m romp at the Sunshine Coast before a fair showing at Group 3 level over this trip.

Sandown Value Bet - Race 8 No. 2 Sir Atlas

This Lindsey Smith-trained galloper has another wide alley to overcome, however, he's an each-way price for the risk and a cold ride off a fast tempo should allow him to finish off late.

Sir Atlas resumed with a brave third last month in a BM74 won by an in-form Stylish, and the gelding kept surging despite covering ground and settling off the speed in a muddling affair.

He's won two of three second-up attempts, while he was thereabouts against stronger opposition last campaign, with placings recorded behind The Open and Revelare.
