Lewis Hamilton is tipped to go back-to-back and win the Austrian Grand Prix, while Charles Leclerc can continue Ferrari’s resurgence by securing pole position at the Red Bull Ring. 

After ending Mercedes’ unbeaten start to 2026 in Barcelona, Ferrari arrive in Austria with momentum, a reported power unit upgrade, and genuine belief that the championship fight is still alive.

The Red Bull Ring has a habit of producing some of Formula 1’s best racing. Three long straights, heavy braking zones, multiple overtaking opportunities and frequent strategy battles make Spielberg one of the most unpredictable races on the calendar. 

Kimi Antonelli still leads the Drivers' Championship despite retiring in Spain, but his advantage has been cut to 41 points over Hamilton. Mercedes remain the benchmark overall, yet Austria could be the first circuit where Ferrari’s recent gains are fully exposed.

McLaren also arrive with optimism at a venue where Lando Norris won in 2025, while Max Verstappen will be desperate to deliver a strong result at Red Bull’s home race after another frustrating weekend in Barcelona.
