Doomben Best Bet - Race 1 No. 3 Barberry Spur
The son of Toronado had just one trial prior to making his racecourse debut, finishing a held fifth in an 840m heat here in January.
The gelding raced on a soft surface that day and went on to make his racecourse debut in a 1110m maiden at this venue just under four weeks ago.
Barberry Spur was well away prior to racing on the pace when contesting a nine-runner event on that occasion.
The three-year-old found only a more experienced rival too strong that day, with the pair finishing four-and-a-half-lengths clear of the third.
The winner of that contest has gone on to follow up at Ipswich subsequently, while the eighth has placed second since and the ninth won at the Sunshine Coast.
He raced on a Good 4 track that day and the slightly softer underfoot conditions expected here shouldn’t be an issue for Lawrie Mayfield-Smith’s representative.
B&T Advisory Fillies and Mares Maiden Handicap Tips (Race 3)
Doomben Favourite - Race 3 No. 2 Deep Tiara
The four-year-old has been lightly raced since debuting with a good fourth over 1200m here in September 2023.
Deep Tiara has gone on to make just three subsequent starts, having been off for exactly a year following a last-of-twelve at Ipswich the following month.
The daughter of Spirit Of Boom performed well when second in a 1000m maiden held at Sunshine Coast when making her seasonal reappearance in early October.
The mare was spelled following that effort and she jumped at big odds when beaten just under six-and-a-half-lengths over 1110m here last month.
While all four of her previous efforts have come on good going, she showed up well in two trials on wet surfaces ahead of last month’s return to action.
Kelly Schweida’s representative boasts a good barrier here, while Cody Collis’ two-kilogram claim is a positive in this contest.

Doomben Next Best Bet - Race 7 No. 4 Out Of Aces
Stuart Kendrick’s representative has performed well at this venue in the past, having broken his maiden over 1640m here in September.
Out Of Acres raced on good going when coming home nearly two lengths clear of his nearest rival that day and he jumped as favourite for a Class 1 here next time.
While unable to complete a double, he recorded a respectable four-and-a-half-length fourth when racing on a Soft 6 surface.
The gelding was spelled following that effort and he trialled well ahead of his return to action on the Sunshine Coast polytrack surface in May.
He lost out by half-a-length when placing third in a Benchmark 68 handicap on that occasion, with the fourth and fifth home that day both winning here since.
The son of Dundeel raced over 1400m at Sunshine Coast and with the step back up in distance here no issue, he is taken to double his career tally.

Doomben Value Bet - Race 8 No. 1 Ring Bearer
The four-year-old has shown a liking for soft ground in the past, including when saluting in a 1600m Class 3 handicap at Eagle Farm in March.
Ring Bearer was racing first-up this prep when saluting on a Soft 7 surface that day and she went on to deliver a creditable fifth when racing at Benchmark 70 level here next time.
While the gelding failed to shine stepped up to 2169m back at Eagle Farm on his penultimate start, he was never in the contest that day.
He was freshened following that effort and delivered a solid fifth-place finish when jumping at $21 for a 1600m event at Eagle Farm earlier this month.
The son of Maurice was beaten less than two lengths in a race won by Savannah Gangster, who he re-opposes on Wednesday.
Apprentice Cody Collis’ two-kilogram claim is a positive here, with his mount selected to score at big odds.
