Randwick Kensington Next Best Bet - Race 4 No. 6 Jaegers

Jaegers broke through for a maiden win at Canterbury on her third start last preparation and has since continued to hold her own in stronger company.

She has produced two solid efforts in defeat this campaign, both on soft ground, including a first-up fourth over 1100m at Canterbury in Benchmark 78 grade where she raced wide without cover throughout.

That was followed by a clear step forward at Albury, finishing second in the 1400m Albury Guineas after settling closer and sticking on well in the straight.

A rise to Group 3 level in the P J Bell Stakes proved a stretch last start, particularly after jumping at triple-figure odds against stronger opposition.

Dropping back in grade here with an inside draw and Tommy Berry taking the ride, Jaegers looks well placed to bounce back.

Randwick Kensington Best Bet - Race 6 No. 9 Shady Road

Shady Road broke through for her maiden win at Newcastle over 1150m when resuming last preparation, showing a strong finish from off the speed.

She backed that up with a narrow second over 1300m on this track, where she was ridden more positively and proved just under half a length shy at Benchmark 72 level.

That effort earned her a rise to Group 3 company at Eagle Farm, where she finished fifth in the Magic Millions VO Rogue Plate in a race that favoured runners ridden with cover.

Her recent trial work has been encouraging, placing in both lead-up runs and suggesting she has returned in good order.

With a claim engaged and a slight drop in distance, Shady Road looks well placed to resume with a winning performance.

Schweppes Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Randwick Kensington Feature Bet - Race 7 No. 3 Luskaire

Luskaire put together a strong campaign last preparation, reeling off four consecutive victories across varying distances and tracks.

That winning sequence included an 1800m success at Rosehill in this grade, as well as a prior win at this venue in Benchmark company.

He closed that preparation with a narrow fourth at Rosehill in a small field, where he was far from disgraced.

His return over 1300m at Hawkesbury earlier this month was below his best, but he jumped from the widest gate and showed enough early before fading late.

Stepping up in distance and with improvement to come second-up, Luskaire looks well placed to return to form.

The Autumn Sun At Arrowfield Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Randwick Kensington Value Bet - Race 9 No. 8 Freddie Bassett

Freddie Bassett resumed with a strong effort at Wyong, beaten less than a length over 1350m on a rain-affected surface after working home well late.

He improved second-up at Warwick Farm when stepping up to 1600m, where he was able to roll forward and control the race before winning by over a length on a Good 4 track.

That performance highlighted his versatility, having previously settled off the speed in earlier runs.

He has also shown ability at a higher level, including a close Listed effort over 2200m late last preparation against stronger opposition.

With 1800m now within range and Tommy Berry retaining the ride, Freddie Bassett looks a value chance to go on with it.
