Eagle Farm hosts a 10-race Saturday program headlined by the Group 3 Grand Prix Stakes and a strong supporting cast of black-type and open handicaps across the card.

With a mix of progressive types, proven performers, and competitive benchmark races, the meeting shapes as a solid betting program with opportunities for value throughout the afternoon.

Eagle Farm Tips December 20

Nova 106.9 Class 3 Handicap Tips (Race 2)

Eagle Farm Best Bet - Race 2 No. 2 Eclair Encore

The Japanese-bred filly has been in good form in Sydney this preparation, including when resuming with a narrow win at Newcastle at the start of October.

That victory came in a Benchmark 68 handicap over 1300m on a Good 4 surface and she has performed consistently across four subsequent outings.

Those runs include second-place finishes in each of her last two starts, most recently in Benchmark 72 company at Rosehill earlier this month.

The daughter of Maurice stepped up to this distance for the first time this preparation on that occasion and again encountered a sound surface.

Softer ground here is no issue given she handled Soft and Heavy conditions last season, has won over this track and trip previously, and Benjamin Osmond’s 2kg claim with winkers applied for the first time adds further appeal.

Seven Grand Prix Stakes (Group 3) Tips (Race 6)

Eagle Farm Feature Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Tambeloa

The son of Tagaloa broke through for his first win when taking out a 1600m contest at Warwick Farm at the end of July.

He raced on a Soft surface that day and has gone on to acquit himself well in three of his four subsequent outings.

Two of those efforts came in Group company, with the best being a fourth in the 2000m Group 1 Champion Stakes at Randwick on his penultimate start.

That effort saw him beaten just over three lengths after jumping at $201 and racing on speed throughout the contest.

Freshened following that run, he dropped back to 1500m at Rosehill where he placed third in a Benchmark 74, and with the extra distance, a likely return to front-running tactics, and a forecast wet surface, he is taken to score.

Ladbrokes Gold Edition Plate (Listed) Tips (Race 7)

Eagle Farm Value Bet - Race 7 No. 8 Spanish Treasure

While still a maiden, there is plenty to like about the gelding who has finished in the top three at all three starts to date.

The first of those saw him go down narrowly to a more experienced rival when contesting a 1000m maiden at this venue at the start of July.

Tony Gollan’s representative raced on a Soft 5 track that day, with both subsequent outings coming over this course and distance.

He found only Alpha Sofie too strong on the first occasion and again placed behind that filly when third on Good ground here at the start of August.

Notably Alpha Sofie went on to complete a hat-trick with an impressive Listed win at Moonee Valley, and with a good barrier and a strong recent Doomben trial, he looks value to break through.

Sky Racing Open Handicap Tips (Race 9)

Eagle Farm Next Best Bet - Race 9 No. 4 Yet He Moves

Chris Waller’s representative is a proven wet-track performer, having recorded five wins on going rated Soft.

The most recent of those came when scoring over 1600m in a Benchmark 78 handicap on a Soft 6 surface when resuming in July.

He has since added two more wins on Good ground, both coming in Benchmark 85 company at Doomben.

The latest of those victories was a narrow success over 1600m earlier this month after settling midfield.

Barrier seven should pose no issue stepping up to 1800m, and with Kyle Wilson-Taylor aboard again, the in-form six-year-old can add a ninth career win.
