Caulfield Heath Value Bet - Race 3 No. 10 Cachink

There was merit in the fresh fourth at Warrnambool, where Cachink attempted an early move in a muddling affair and after getting going too soon at the top of the straight, fitness gave out late under 60kg, yet he was hardly disgraced in a 2.5-length defeat.

While this is technically a stronger race, it shapes as a very weak contest for a metropolitan BM70 and that profile suits him well second-up.

His last run at this stage of a preparation reads strongly, finishing runner-up to the handy Taken over this trip.

He was no match for that winner at Flemington, but there was a string of talented rivals further back in the field.

Although he did not progress beyond that point, ability was evident as a two and early three-year-old, which includes a second-up city win at this distance.

Magic Millions Digital Handicap Tips (Race 4)

Caulfield Heath Best Bet - Race 4 No. 9 Knobelas

Knobelas atoned for a runner-up effort on debut as a well-backed favourite by leading throughout for a comfortable maiden success on May 29.

She then handled the step to metropolitan grade with ease, producing a dominant all-the-way victory at Sandown.

An end-of-preparation run resulted in a second in the Silverbowl Final at Flemington in a BM70 that carried depth.

Resuming on November 28, she made light work of her rivals and let down strongly along the inside lanes, which has not been the place to be at Pakenham this season.

Bar Plates coming off is another major positive for the mare, who also carries 2kg less for this Saturday assignment.

Magic Millions VIC 2YO Classic Tips (Race 5)

Caulfield Heath Feature Bet - Race 5 No. 9 Kiss Me In Paris

The richest race on Saturday’s Caulfield program is the Magic Millions VIC 2YO Classic and only two runners have race experience, with both currently at double-figure odds in early markets.

The longest of the single-figure chances is Kiss Me In Paris, a Te Akau-trained filly who improved sharply off a quiet first jump-out when winning her latest at Cranbourne.

She worked smoothly through her gears on that occasion and showed no issues under pressure.

Craig Williams is the only rider from last season’s top four in the Melbourne Metro Jockey Premiership engaged at this meeting.

The experienced hoop has a strong record at Caulfield Heath, riding 13 winners at the circuit at just under a 30% strike-rate.

Quayclean Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Caulfield Heath Roughie - Race 6 No. 1 Celsius Star

There have been some strange placements with Celsius Star throughout a long campaign, yet he has remained competitive despite racing outside his ideal distances.

While the gelding does not run a strong 1400m or mile, including at Flemington three starts back, he still finished a close third at Ballarat when specked at a price in a 1400m BM84.

The sprint attempts all came early in the preparation in stronger company, where he was outclassed twice before covering ground at Moonee Valley.

His straight-track run at big odds was also fair without threatening.

Whether the opportunity has passed remains to be seen, but he now drops from a BM84 to a BM74 and importantly gets back to 1200m.

Evergreen Turf Handicap Tips (Race 10)

Caulfield Heath Next Best Bet - Race 10 No. 7 Quiseen

At an each-way price in what is not a strong BM78 against her own sex, Quiseen appeals as a value chance in the final event.

The mare moved well via a tick-over jump-out win at Ballarat on December 8 and has shown previously that she can thrive when allowed to build momentum.

A wide draw may work in her favour, as she often performs best when letting down to the outside of her opposition.

First-up at Bendigo, the daughter of Pariah tired late after covering ground, and that was followed by a forgive run at Geelong when held in restricted room.

Still very lightly raced for a five-year-old, her class was evident during autumn with back-to-back wins, the latest coming at Sandown when covering ground with 60kg.
