In a highly anticipated match at Indian Wells, Cameron Norrie is set to face Rinky Hijikata, with Norrie expected to advance to the quarter-finals. Despite Hijikata's impressive recent performances, including his first Masters 1000 fourth round, Norrie's consistency on the slow, high-bouncing courts and past success in the tournament position him as the favorite. While Hijikata has made strides against top players, this matchup against Norrie seems unfavorable. The betting odds are siding with Norrie, who thrives in these conditions.

Cameron Norrie vs Rinky Hijikata Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Rinky Hijkata has put together a brilliant run to the fourth round of a Masters 1000 for the first time, but Cameron Norrie is likely to progress to the quarter-finals in their Indian Wells showdown on Wednesday.

Before this tournament, Hijikata was 0-23 in completed matches against top 30 players. Obviously the Aussie was getting overpowered and outclassed whenever he came up against the elite. However, Hijikata has registered the two biggest wins of his career and his best ever result at a Masters 1000 over the last couple of weeks, firstly qualifying for main draw before taking out 20th seed Luciano Darderi and 10th seed Alexander Bublik - coming from a set down in both.

It's been a magical run, but I do think it ends here. Norrie is such a beast on these slow, high-bouncing Indian Wells courts. The Brit won the title in 2021 and is a further two-time quarter-finalist. Additionally, Norrie wiped the floor with Alex de Minaur in his previous round in straight sets - and the Demon is basically a top 10 version of Hijikata. I just don't see how Hijikata's court speed and movement is going to affect Norrie, who can grind with the best of them and redirect the ball better. Just a bad matchup for Hijikata here - take Norrie to cover.
  • Norrie has won 17 of his 23 previous matches in Indian Wells
  • Eight of Norrie's last 11 Indian Wells matches were completed in straight sets
  • Hijikata is 2-23 vs top 30 players in his career
  • Hijikata has failed to cover a +3.5 games line in his last 12 defeats vs top 30 players
  • Norrie has won 12 of his last 16 matches vs players outside the top 100

Norrie vs Hijikata Head To Head

This will be the first career meeting between the pair.

Cameron Norrie Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 8-5
  • ATP Indian Wells Record: 17-6
  • Current Ranking: No. 29
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 8 (2022)

Norrie has clawed his way back into the world's top 30 and another victory in Indian Wells would propel him into the top 25 in the live rankings.

The Brit simply loves playing in the Californian desert, where he won his one and only Masters 1000 title back in 2021.

Solid but unspectacular would describe Norrie's 2026 up until now - he made the third round of the Australian Open and didn't go beyond the second round of an ATP event.

But that's all changed this tournament - Norrie routined Mackenzie McDonald 6-2 6-3 in his opening match before grinding down Alex de Minaur 6-4 6-4 to improve his poor record vs the top 10 to 13-43.

Rinky Hijikata Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 6-6
  • ATP Indian Wells Record: 5-2
  • Current Ranking: No. 117
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 62 (2024)

After dealing with a series of injury issues last season, Hijikata is aiming to climb back inside the world’s top 100 and eventually move beyond his career-best ranking of No. 62, a mark he reached following his run to the fourth round of the US Open two seasons ago.

The Australian has historically performed well on American hard courts and has produced some of his strongest tennis in the Coachella Valley over the past week.

After a frustrating Australian summer swing, Hijikata has begun to rediscover form. He navigated qualifying with victories over Leandro Riedi and Ignacio Buse, then carried that momentum into the main draw with wins against Francesco Maestrelli and 20th seed Luciano Darderi.

Hijikata then secured his maiden top 10 victory in the third round, taking out Alexander Bublik 6-7(3) 7-6(3) 6-3, hitting 33 winners to 27 unforced errors.
