Aryna Sabalenka, ranked World No. 1, is set to face teenage sensation Victoria Mboko in the Indian Wells quarter-finals. Sabalenka's current form, especially after dominating Naomi Osaka, positions her as a strong favorite. Despite Mboko's impressive season and victories over top players, Sabalenka's hardcourt prowess is predicted to prevail. Historical performances, including Sabalenka's previous win over Mboko at the Australian Open, reinforce this prediction. Tennis fans can catch this exciting match live through authorized streaming services.

Aryna Sabalenka vs Victoria Mboko Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

It's the current World No. 1 up against the highest-ranked teenager as Aryna Sabalenka and Victoria Mboko clash in the Indian Wells quarter-finals on Thursday.

Regular readers will know I backed Mboko at $26 to win this tournament, but part of the reasoning behind that selection was Sabalenka potentially losing before the quarter-finals in her first event since the Australian Open. I was wrong there. Sabalenka produced one of her best performances of the last 12 months in her straight sets beatdown over Naomi Osaka in the previous round and if she maintains that sort of form, nobody can stop her on a hardcourt. Simple as that really.

Mboko is on fire and I'd probably back her against anyone left in the draw apart from Sabalenka and maybe Iga Swiatek. But Sabalenka's form is too good right now - she served impeccably against Osaka and she covered a -4.5 line in her straight sets win over Mboko at the Australian Open. I think history repeats in the desert.
  • Sabalenka is 14-1 to start the season
  • Sabalenka has won eight of her last nine Indian Wells matches
  • Sabalenka has covered a -4.5 line in seven of those eight victories
  • Sabalenka has won her last five matches vs top 10 opponents not named Rybakina
  • Sabalenka beat Mboko 6-1 7-6 at the AO in January

Sabalenka vs Mboko Head To Head

Sabalenka leads 1-0, winning that aforementioned fourth round match in Melbourne in straights.

Aryna Sabalenka Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: Sabalenka 14-1
  • WTA Indian Wells Record: 18-6
  • Current Ranking: No. 1
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 1 (2023)

Sabalenka remains on course and favourite to win her maiden Indian Wells title after a dominant opening week in the desert.

Playing her first tournament since another Australian Open three-set final heartbreak, Sabalenka has surged into the quarter-finals without losing more than four games in a set.

The top seed beat Himeno Sakatsume 6-4 6-2 in her opening match before a 6-4 6-1 victory over Jaqueline Cristian.

Sabalenka then produced some thunderous tennis to ease past Naomi Osaka in a blockbuster R16 battle, winning 39 of her 56 service points and firing eight aces to zero double faults.

“I'm super happy with the performance today, the way I brought variety on court, that I made her guess most of the time,” Sabalenka said after the 6-2 6-4 win.
“I was trying to change the rhythm and make sure that the ball comes back on her side [at] different heights and speeds. So I think that was the key of the match.”

Victoria Mboko Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 16-4
  • WTA Indian Wells Record: 3-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 10
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 10 (Feb 2026)

It's been an electric start to the season for Mboko, firmly establishing herself as a star of the present and not just the future.

Only Elina Svitolina (17) has won more matches than Mboko, with the 19-year-old reaching the final in Adelaide and Doha, along with the R16 at the Australian Open.

Mboko took out Australian Open champion Elena Rybakina in Doha, along with Mirra Andreeva, and she's again bulldozing her way through this draw in her Indian Wells debut.

The Canadian hasn't dropped a set in victories over Kim Birrell, Anna Kalinskaya and Amanda Anisimova, with the latter improving her record against top 10 players to 5-5 after a dominant 6-4 6-1 demolition of the sixth seed.

If Sabalenka plays like she did against Osaka, then she's likely to cover a -4.5 games line for the second time vs Mboko in three months.
