It's the fiercest and oldest derby in world football as Celtic and Rangers lock horns for the 454th time on Sunday at Parkhead.

Celtic have obviously enjoyed far more recent success as a club, but Rangers have avoided defeat in 10 of the last 11 meetings in all competitions inside 90 minutes - including last Sunday's crushing 3-0 triumph in the League Cup quarter-finals.

The Gers restricted Celtic to just one shot on target in a dominant performance as midfielder Daniel Neil scored a brace.

Celtic slumped to further depths on Thursday night as they were humbled 3-1 at home by Hungarian champions Ferencvaros in the Europa League - a result we backed as former Bhoy and Socceroos winger Daniel Arzani returned to haunt his old club.

The Bhoys are all over the place in defence - those recent results followed an embarrassing Champions League qualifying elimination to LASK Linz, where they conceded a whopping 60 shots to their Austrian opponents and wasted a 4-0 aggregate lead.

It's hard to remember a time where Celtic looked this vulnerable, so a great opportunity for Rangers to double down and inflict more pain on their bitter rivals.

Celtic have made a perfect start to their Scottish Premiership campaign, collecting all 18 points from their opening six matches to sit five clear of Rangers at the top of the table. However, their league form has been overshadowed by a series of damaging results elsewhere.

After suffering a heartbreaking Champions League qualifying exit against Kairat Almaty last season, Celtic endured another European collapse this term. The Hoops appeared to have one foot in the next round after establishing a 4-0 advantage over LASK Linz, only to concede five unanswered goals and crash out 5-4 on aggregate.

The manner of the defeat was particularly concerning, with Martin O'Neill's side conceding 60 shots across the two legs and looking extremely vulnerable defensively.

Obviously the disastrous 3-0 defeat to Rangers at Ibrox in the League Cup followed last week, with Celtic only managing one shot on target and looking all at sea in the middle of the field and at the back.

Things went from bad to worse Thursday night's Europa League opener as they were embarrassed 3-1 at home by Ferencvaros. The Bhoys had 63 per cent of possession, but only managed four shots on target to six from the Hungarian champions, who took their chances ruthlessly.

O'Neill will likely make some changes after two shocking defeats in the space of five days.

Jota remains unavailable with a long-term knee injury, while Yang Hyun-Jun is on international duty with South Korea.

Kasper Hogh and Benjamin Nygren came off the bench in the loss to Ferencvaros and could start this one.

It was a poor start to the season for Rangers as they failed to qualify into any European competition, losing to Jagiellonia Białystok in the third round of Europa League qualifying before going down on penalties to Czech side Jablonec to crash out of the Conference League.

Derek McInnes’s side also failed to win their opening two Scottish Premier League games, drawing with Dundee United 1-1 before a shock 2-1 loss at Ibrox to Hibs.

However, Rangers have since won six domestic games on the trot coming into this fixture, beating Aberdeen, Falkirk, Motherwell and St Mirren in the league, alongside two League Cup victories over St Mirren and Celtic.

Lawrence Shankland rounded into some form after a shaky start to life at Rangers, top scoring with three goals from five appearances in the league, but has since suffered a serious hamstring injury.

Shankland faces up to four months on the sidelines and may need surgery.

Youssef Chermiti and Daisuke Yokota are also out injured, while Tuur Rommens is in doubt despite returning to training.

McInnes shouldn't tinker with a winning formula and will likely name the same side that beat Celtic seven days ago.
