Australia heads into the 2nd ODI against Zimbabwe in Harare with a 1-0 series lead after a convincing 59-run win. Travis Head, despite a string of cheap dismissals, is expected to bounce back with a major score. Xavier Bartlett is tipped to exploit Zimbabwe's shaky top order after early wickets in the opening match. Key recommendations include backing Travis Head over 34.5 runs and Xavier Bartlett over 1.5 wickets. Australia is strongly favored to wrap up the series based on recent form and first ODI dominance.

Zimbabwe vs Australia, 2nd ODI 2026 - Expert Prediction

Australia can wrap up the series in Harare after a convincing 59-run win in the opener. Travis Head is backed to respond after another cheap dismissal, while Xavier Bartlett can take advantage of a Zimbabwe batting order that lost four wickets inside 14 overs on Tuesday.

Head has now chopped on in each of his past four international innings, including against Brad Evans for 5 in the opening ODI. His quality at the top of the order makes over 34.5 runs the primary play, with 50+ runs worth chasing at the bigger price.

Bartlett took 1-41 from eight overs in the opener and should again get opportunities against Zimbabwe's top order. The hosts slipped to 62-4 before Craig Ervine and Sikandar Raza repaired the innings, and Bartlett over 1.5 wickets appeals if Australia can expose that brittle start again.

Take Travis Head over 34.5 runs. Travis Head 50+ runs and Xavier Bartlett over 1.5 wickets are the side bets.

  • Australia won the opening ODI by 59 runs after posting 294-8 and dismissing Zimbabwe for 235.
  • Zimbabwe were reduced to 62-4 inside 14 overs during their chase in the first ODI.
  • Travis Head has chopped on in each of his past four international innings and five of his past seven.
  • Xavier Bartlett took 1-41 from eight overs in the opening ODI.
  • Australia have won their past two ODIs after losing the previous three.

Head to Head

Australia lead the three-match series 1-0 after winning the opening ODI by 59 runs in Harare.

The tourists posted 294-8 before dismissing Zimbabwe for 235. Australia controlled most of the contest despite Craig Ervine and Sikandar Raza briefly threatening during the chase.

Zimbabwe Form Analysis

Zimbabwe were competitive in patches in the first ODI but paid heavily for mistakes with both bat and ball.

Their bowlers had Australia under pressure before Matt Renshaw changed the innings with 109 off 94 balls. Newman Nyamhuri was outstanding with 5-62, but Zimbabwe conceded 13 wides and Sikandar Raza delivered three no-balls as Australia pushed their total to 294-8.

The chase then started poorly at 62-4. Ervine made 59 and Raza added 57 to bring Zimbabwe back into the contest, but neither converted his start into the innings required to chase down Australia's total.

Nathan Ellis eventually ran through the hosts with 5-31 as Zimbabwe were dismissed for 235.

Australia Form Analysis

Australia were far from perfect in the series opener but still produced a comfortable 59-run victory.

Head fell cheaply before Mitchell Marsh made 36 and Cooper Connolly added 51. Renshaw then took control of the innings with 109 off 94 balls, striking at 115.96 to push Australia to 294-8.

The major concern at the top is Head's repeated mode of dismissal. He has chopped on in four consecutive international innings and five of his past seven, with opposition attacks consistently denying him width.

Australia's attack took over once Zimbabwe slipped to 62-4. Ellis finished with 5-31, while Bartlett, Spencer Johnson, Adam Zampa, Connolly and Renshaw each collected a wicket.
