Ryan Moore Claims International Jockeys’ Championship at Happy Valley
Ryan Moore marked a significant comeback at Happy Valley, clinching his third Longines International Jockeys’ Championship following a strategic two-win performance. Moore, who had been sidelined earlier this year with a fractured femur, showcased his exceptional skills by securing wins in both Leg 2 and Leg 4, tallying an unbeatable point total under the 12-6-4 scoring format. This victory marks Moore's first IJC crown since 2010. The English rider’s precise maneuvers on horses Corleone and Triumphant More highlight his enduring prowess. Meanwhile, Caspar Fownes and Hugh Bowman also recorded noteworthy victories at the event.

Ryan Moore has secured his third Longines International Jockeys’ Championship after producing a superb two-win display at Happy Valley, sealing the title in his first major international night back from injury.
The English rider struck with precision in Leg 2 (Race 5), guiding Corleone to a determined front-running victory for Caspar Fownes after leading before holding on narrowly. He then delivered the decisive blow in Leg 4 (Race 8), lifting Triumphant More to a $23 upset that sealed the trophy under the event’s 12-6-4 scoring system. The pair of victories ensured an unbeatable tally and confirmed his first IJC crown since 2010.
The triumph caps a notable comeback for the 42-year-old, who has spent several months sidelined with a fractured femur. His return to the saddle aligned perfectly with Hong Kong’s global showcase — and he delivered with trademark precision.
Moore previously won the IJC in 2009 (shared with Christophe Lemaire and John Murtagh) and in 2010, making this his third success in the prestigious series.
Caspar Fownes dominated the meeting with three winners, including Moore’s Race 5 success on Corleone and Joao Moreira’s opening double. Moreira set the tone early, delivering a quickfire brace for Fownes aboard Family Fortune (Race 1) and Lucky Generations (Race 2).
In addition, Hugh Bowman recorded a double of his own, with the Australian hoop saluting on Silvery Breeze in Race 7 before closing the program with victory aboard Helene Feeling in the last.
Focus now shifts to Sunday’s Longines Hong Kong International Races at Sha Tin, where four Group 1 features headline one of world racing’s premier meetings.
