Sheza Alibi has taken the first step towards a highly anticipated spring campaign, producing an encouraging performance in a Pakenham jump-out on Tuesday morning ahead of a likely return in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes at Caulfield on August 29.

The Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman-trained mare finished second to stablemate Ole Dancer over 800 metres but was never asked for a serious effort, cruising to the line under a quiet ride in what was her first public hit-out of the preparation.

A second, stronger jump-out is expected in the coming weeks before Sheza Alibi resumes in the Memsie Stakes, which shapes as the ideal launching pad for a campaign centred around the $10 million Golden Eagle at Rosehill on October 31.

The daughter of Saxon Warrior enters the spring as one of Australia's most exciting horses after a remarkable season.

Since finishing third at her stable debut last October, Sheza Alibi has strung together five consecutive victories, highlighted by dominant Group 1 triumphs in the Randwick Guineas and Doncaster Mile to establish herself as the current odds-on favourite for The Golden Eagle.

Tuesday's heat was won by Ole Dancer, who was also having her first jump-out of the campaign and could join her stablemate in the Memsie Stakes.

Last year's Thousand Guineas winner resumed earlier this year with a Listed placing before finishing third behind Tempted in the Group 1 Surround Stakes, before being spelled after an unsuccessful run in the Group 1 Coolmore Classic.

Another notable runner in the jump-out was talented Trent Edmonds-trained sprinter Extragalactic, who was narrowly beaten in the Group 1 The Goodwood at her latest appearance in May.
