Nowra Value Bet - Race 1 No. 7 Rosary Sister

Rosary Sister has continued to improve with racing and produced her best effort to date at Goulburn last month.

Racing on turf for the first time, the filly finished third in a 1200m maiden on a wet surface, beaten just over five-and-a-half lengths.

That effort suggested she would appreciate the rise in distance she gets here, while Anthony Warren's three-year-old has shown enough early speed in her starts to suggest the inside draw should be a positive.

She was ridden with restraint at Goulburn but had raced closer to the speed at Canberra Acton previously, giving Pierre Boudvillain some tactical options from the favourable barrier.

The daughter of St Mark's Basilica wears a visor for the first time, and with Boudvillain taking the ride, Rosary Sister rates as a value chance to break through.

Kimberlie & Co Country Boosted Class 1 Handicap Tips (Race 2)

Nowra Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Defiance

Defiance showed ability for his previous trainer and made the perfect start to the 2026/27 season with a dominant win at Canberra earlier this month.

Resuming without a recognised trial, the gelding kicked clear to score by more than four lengths in a nine-runner 1000m event after jumping from the outside barrier.

The rise in distance looks suitable, while the switch from the Soft 7 he encountered at Canberra to potentially firmer ground should pose no issue based on his previous form.

Brodie Loy retains the ride after partnering him first-up, and the pair should again be able to take up a prominent position from the draw.

Luke Pepper has enjoyed a strong record at Nowra in 2026, and Defiance looks capable of overcoming top weight to make it back-to-back victories.

Nowra Roughie - Race 4 No. 4 More Mischief

There has been enough merit in More Mischief's recent efforts to suggest he can improve sharply at a bigger price.

The Amanda Turner-trained gelding finished fifth over this distance in a higher-grade Benchmark 66 here two starts ago on a wet surface.

He could manage only eighth at Goulburn subsequently, but the run was better than the bare result suggests after he was beaten just over two-and-a-half lengths.

The seven-year-old is tactically versatile and again has the services of Molly Bourke, who has partnered him at his past two starts.

More Mischief has shown an affinity for Nowra in the past, and with the prospect of a track upgrade another positive, he looks capable of surprising and recording his first win since scoring over this track-and-trip two years ago.

Trustel Benchmark 58 Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Nowra Next Best Bet - Race 6 No. 3 You Wish

Previous course form gives You Wish plenty of appeal after she scored over 1200m at Nowra in February.

The mare was slowly away that day but still proved too strong in a Benchmark 58, settling fifth in the eight-runner field before getting home narrowly.

She has made just three starts since and resumed with a solid seventh at Moruya in Benchmark 66 company, beaten a little over two lengths on a sound surface.

That effort came at big odds and the forecast Soft ground holds no concerns, with the daughter of Cable Bay already a winner on rain-affected going.

The six-year-old has a strong second-up record and, from barrier six, looks well placed to maintain her unbeaten record at Nowra.
