Northam Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 13 Desert Life
She has trialled up much better than the fav (Jimmy Angel) and Desert Life has completed two winter hit-out's ahead of her resumption, which includes a soft heat win at Lark Hill on July 28.
The Michael Lane-trained galloper was in the market via a debut attempt in a Saturday two-year-old event at Ascot on March and the filly didn't have much luck there, with tired rivals getting in her way.
Desert Life has also accepted for the opener at Belmont on Saturday, where she draws out in smaller line up and while this is a bigger field, the wider lanes have been in play at Northam and this is an easier option.

Northam Best Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Delicate Ruler
It was a brave return effort from Delicate Ruler, who looked beaten multiple times in the run home, but the five-year-old kept fighting and he almost pinched a victory in a photo finish with Magnachine.
Along with having a fitness edge, that July 24 winner also found the faster lanes out wider and especially now that What's The Point has been scratched, this gelding looks to get on-speed favours here.
His best two performances have both come over the Northam 1300m, with a maiden win last winter and the return second both recorded over this track/trip, while soft ground is another positive.
Another Fine Mess Playing 14 Sept Tips (Race 7)
Northam Value Bet - Race 7 No. 14 The Rooster
In an open event to finish the Northam program, The Rooster can run a cheeky race at bolters odds, with the six-year-old back under the care of Justine Erkelens, who was his first trainer in WA.
The ex-Victorian was consistent over his first four outings early last season, with unlucky attempts both second and third-up before saluting at Belmont, where he did the donkey work in a 1600m Class 1.
He's likely to improve and come into his own over a little more ground as this campaign wears on, but 1400m is a good starting point and Shaun O'Donnell has built up a decent rapport with The Rooster.
