Donald Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Big Boy Bowie
Plenty of experience was gained ahead of Big Boy Bowie's debut, registering top-two finishes in five jump-out appearances at Bendigo.
Three of those efforts saw him come home in front, and he delivered a highly promising debut effort at Caulfield Heath just under two weeks ago.
Racing over 1000m, the gelding settled behind the leaders in fifth for much of the contest before staying on nicely.
The gelding lost out by just over a length that day and is expected to have improved for that experience.
The son of Thronum is again set to start from next to the rail, and Jess Gleeson's representative is expected to find life easier dropping to a country maiden as he looks to break through at the second attempt.
Gilchrist & Co BM62 Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Donald Roughie - Race 5 No. 8 Shogun Express
A wet-track success at Coleraine earlier in the season highlights the best of Shogun Express' recent form, and he was subsequently spelled following a fifth-place finish at Warrnambool later in August.
The gelding has shown a liking for testing conditions, placing in the top three in both starts on Heavy ground.
A third-place finish at Warrnambool in July last year marks the most recent of those Heavy-track efforts.
While yet to hit top form, the pick took a step forward when finishing fourth in a 2000m Benchmark 56 event at Mildura last month.
Beaten less than six lengths from barrier eight that day, he has since trialled over hurdles at Traralgon, and Patrick Payne's gelding may prove capable of causing an upset here.
CHS Broadbent BM62 Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Donald Value Bet - Race 8 No. 12 Timeonlees
Ending her previous preparation with a victory at Mildura in July, Timeonlees is a dual winner.
The filly raced over 1900m on that occasion and delivered some good jump-out efforts ahead of last month's return to action.
Dropped to 1500m, the New Zealand-bred showed up well in finishing third, beaten just under three and a half lengths at Ballarat.
While untested in the forecast conditions, she did place second on a wet track at Echuca just under a year ago.
The extra distance she gets here is in her favour, as is an inside barrier, and the three-year-old boasts a strong second-up record, with improvement expected from the in-form stable representative.
