Best Bet
Race 6 No. 4 Hard As Broke
Some solid form preceded Hard As Broke’s heavy defeat in metropolitan company at Eagle Farm at the end of July.
Racing on Good ground for the first time this year, the gelding trailed home last-of-11 in a 1600m Class 1 handicap.
The son of All Too Hard is better judged on his earlier Soft-ground performances, including a narrow runner-up finish at Beaudesert three starts back.
He joined current trainer Ridge Wilson after fetching $9,500 at the Inglis 2026 August (Early) Online Sale last month and prepared for this return with a trial victory at Tamworth just over two weeks ago.
While the drop in distance is a slight concern, the four-year-old has demonstrated good early speed in the past and, from an inside barrier, he looks capable of resuming with a victory.
Value Bet
Race 4 No. 8 Kate’s Tiara
Consistent recent form brings Kate’s Tiara into calculations at a value price, with the mare recording two third-place finishes at this venue in recent starts.
The second of those came over 1000m on her penultimate appearance, when she was beaten less than two lengths at Benchmark 58 level after beginning slowly and being ridden cold.
She stayed on nicely in the straight to claim a minor placing before finishing fourth over 1100m at the same level last time, with both efforts coming on Good ground.
Hold-up tactics are again expected aboard the daughter of Hallowed Crown, while any give in the surface should pose no issue given she has both won and placed on wet tracks in the past.
The six-year-old draws well next to the fence and rates value to provide jockey Daniel Smith and trainer Paddy Cunningham with a winner.

Race 7 No. 2 Valouri
Matthew Dunn’s mare has registered two solid efforts in defeat this preparation and has attracted support ahead of the seventh race.
The five-year-old finished sixth at the Gold Coast last time and, with the rise in distance ahead of her here, is now $3.50 with Unibet Australia after opening at $5.

Jockey Justin Stanley has enjoyed a strong record at Grafton so far this year, boasting a near 36% strike rate with five wins from 14 rides at the venue in 2026.
