Doomben Favourite - Race 1 No. 3 Indamouse

Back-to-back fourth-place finishes have shown Indamouse is knocking on the door, with the latest coming on a Good 4 at Eagle Farm earlier this month.

The gelding was beaten just under one-and-a-half lengths that day and may have finished second had he not been caught behind the winner late.

The son of Nicconi has drawn double-figure barriers in his past three starts, so barrier four is a clear positive and should allow him to settle into a more economical position.

While a track upgrade would aid his chances, a Soft 5 should not pose too many concerns, with Ryan Maloney again taking the ride.

David Vandyke's gelding has shaped as though the rise in distance will suit in recent appearances and looks well placed to break his maiden at start six.

Doomben Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 5 Metric

Wet-track form is already on the board with Metric, who was beaten less than half a length at the Gold Coast last month when encountering rain-affected ground for the first time.

That effort came after a promising debut fourth at Doomben, with the daughter of Wild Ruler returning from a spell to register consecutive third-place finishes.

She stayed on strongly over 1000m at the Gold Coast before backing it up with another close third at Eagle Farm two weeks ago.

Racing on a Good 4, Metric tracked the speed and worked up the fence under Cejay Graham, who retains the ride here.

The rise in distance should suit and, from an inside draw back on rain-affected ground, she looks capable of providing trainer Kelly Schweida with a winner.

Doomben Best Bet - Race 4 No. 11 Weownachevy

Weownachevy showed early promise when runner-up on debut at Grafton in March, beaten less than half a length over 1000m.

The three-year-old began well and raced prominently from barrier five, before proving he was up to metropolitan maiden company when resuming with a third at Eagle Farm late last month.

He was beaten less than two lengths in that return, with the winner subsequently backing up to score at Doomben.

The rise in distance presented no issues there and, while Weownachevy is yet to race on a wet surface, he has shown he can handle Soft ground through a recent Grafton trial victory.

An inside draw is another positive and Bella Youngberry's 3kg claim further strengthens his case as he looks to break through at start three.

Doomben Value Bet - Race 5 No. 11 Vanessi

A string of solid Sydney Benchmark 72 performances last preparation gives Vanessi appeal dropping into this Class 1, with the mare finishing third on three occasions.

Two of those efforts came on wet tracks before the daughter of Too Darn Hot was spelled following a seventh at Eagle Farm in April.

She had just one trial ahead of her return three weeks ago in a similar race, where she finished sixth on Good ground after jumping from the inside draw.

Beaten just over two-and-a-half lengths, the mare should take improvement from that first-up outing and she has won second-up previously.

Chris Waller's mare now drops in distance, draws well again and gets Ryan Maloney aboard for the first time, making her an appealing value chance.
