Belmont Tips July 18

Swan Draught - Belmont Classic Tips (Race 3)

Belmont Feature Bet - Race 3 No. 3 Ladies Pro

William Pike is aiming for a sixth Belmont Classic on Saturday, and "The Wizard" partners market elect Ladies Pro, who justified favouritism and proved her 2000m credentials a fortnight back when taking out the Belmont Oaks, which was a deeper field than she contests here.

She should be able to at least hold that form, given she was five weeks between runs on June 20 when contesting a fast-run Belmont Guineas over the mile, while her campaign should have opened with a hat-trick following first and third-up wins.

Ladies Pro overcame trouble in the May 16 success after a second-up miss that was a really messy watch.

The main threat is Aquanita Stakes winner Westbound, who relished the rise to 2000m when saluting on the same program on July 4.

He could prove the better stayer of the two going forward, but Ladies Pro has a stronger turn-of-foot, and that should hold her in good stead if this isn't a brutally run affair, with the pair dominating the early betting.

Budget Mini Bus Handicap Tips (Race 6)

Belmont Value Bet - Race 6 No. 1 Memory Parade

She could still be a run or two off peaking, and there's another wide draw to overcome for Memory Parade, although the five-year-old also faces an easier assignment than the 72+ that she resumed in on July 4.

That was a really honest effort from the daughter of War Chant, coming from off the speed and sticking on well, and we'll see that form tested in better company via Race 4, where both Olympic Park and Auto Cruise clash again.

Her winning strike rate isn't flash, but she has been contesting stronger races since an Ascot triumph early last year and has since been stakes placed twice, the latest in November, when splitting Captain Pluto and Red Sun Sensation.

Her second-up performance that campaign was also a competitive one in the Group 3 Eurythmic Stakes over this distance.

While not disgraced in a few staying attempts last prep, she appears best kept over shorter, perhaps with a mile as far as she wants, while all three of her wins have come over 1300m to 1400m.

Budget Car And Truck Rental Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Belmont Best Bet - Race 7 No. 9 Want A Winner

He accepted for the hot edition of the Listed Beaufine Stakes last Saturday but didn't gain a run as the third emergency.

While respecting that aggressive placement from connections, this is a far more suitable return assignment for the lightly raced entire, who has already built a tidy record of four wins, two placings and a fourth from seven appearances, including two wins and a third from three tries over the Belmont 1200m.

That distance is more suitable, so kicking off over five furlongs last week could have left him vulnerable.

His only outing last campaign was a December 13 second over 1000m at Ascot behind Haida Gwaii, who won two of her next three starts.

The Belmont trial was also a strong one on June 22, taking a heat over the talented three-year-old Twisted Steel, who resumed with a runner-up finish in the Beaufine Stakes, and William Pike stays aboard from that hit-out.

Unite Resourcing Handicap Tips (Race 8)

Belmont Next Best Bet - Race 8 No. 13 In Confidence

The jockey-trainer partnership of Lucy Fiore and Daniel Morton has been a profitable one for punters to follow this season.

Their 16 winners leading into Saturday's program have returned an ROI of almost 52%, and they combine again with In Confidence, who resumed from a 12-month absence on June 20.

Despite being unsuited when back and wide over 1000m, a distance short of her best, she stuck to the task well and continued finding the line late without favours.

Her two lead-up trials suggested she'd improve off whatever she produced fresh, while she could easily have been unbeaten in her first campaign after winning starts one and three, with the defeat coming over five furlongs, when a sleepy ride proved costly.

She's got more upside than most of her opposition in this Belmont finale, her first-up race has already produced two winners, and In Confidence has been kept on the fresh side for this second-up assignment.
