Doomben Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 6 Moonan Quartz

While this is a tougher assignment in Saturday Benchmark 70 company, it's still not the strongest of city events, and the lightly raced Moonan Quartz is well placed for a hat-trick.

The Michael Lakey-trained gelding comfortably handled the rise from a big Benchmark 58 provincial win on return to lead throughout when successful at Class 3 level at Eagle Farm on July 1.

He's also come on from a first campaign where he was competitive once getting up over these distances.

Soft ground won't worry him, and although drawn wide, he's likely to push forward under Jace McMurray, who takes 2kg off with his claim.

A tough on-pace galloper who is racing at the right time of year to work through these lower metropolitan grades, Moonan Quartz should cross early and give them something to catch once again.

Drinkwise Class 6 Plate Tips (Race 6)

Doomben Best Bet - Race 6 No. 1 John Rambo

This son of Adelaide always needs some favours in transit given his racing pattern.

After contesting two big fields to open his winter campaign, Saturday's smaller line-up should suit, with the gelding unlikely to concede as much of a start and his turn-of-foot likely to prove more decisive.

He was respected in the market for the Listed Eye Liner on Ipswich Cup Day, where he was never in contention but worked home strongly in restricted room, before backing that up with a solid second-up effort in the Glasshouse Handicap.

John Rambo broke a frustrating run of outs late last campaign with a dominant victory in The Gold Jewel, while his previous two metropolitan wins both came at Doomben on rain-affected ground.

With even luck from a low draw, the six-year-old has the brilliance to finish over the top of these late.

XXXX One Metro Win Handicap Tips (Race 7)

Doomben Value Bet - Race 7 No. 1 Taltarni Fields

A very conservative ride first-up over five furlongs on Caloundra Cup Day left Taltarni Fields with too much to do.

After settling back and finding trouble in an on-speed dominated race, he was never in contention despite picking off a few runners late.

Not only is this a decent drop in class, but the return to Doomben is a major positive for the son of Deep Field.

He has three wins and four placings from eight attempts at Doomben, with his only miss coming when beaten just over two lengths after being taken on throughout in front in a race that suited the swoopers.

Taltarni Fields has a good second-up record, and over 1200m he should be able to settle much closer from a low draw.

Ladbrokes Racing Extras In Multi Class 6 Tips (Race 9)

Doomben Roughies - Race 9 No. 3 Pasima & No. 6 Cunnamulla Fella

Two gallopers at double-figure quotes in the Doomben finale are Pasima and Cunnamulla Fella, who both find more suitable assignments on Saturday.

Pasima recorded four straight victories earlier in the season before contesting The Wave and then heading for a spell.

He was building quite nicely earlier this campaign before failing badly on a Heavy 9 at Eagle Farm, while his latest effort in the Listed Tattersall's Mile on a Soft 6 was a much-improved showing.

The entire is much better placed back to this level, although he doesn't want too much rain, while Cunnamulla Fella could be a sharp improver here.

He followed a similar pattern last campaign when scoring third-up over this distance at Eagle Farm, and after an honest return at Ipswich followed by a one-paced Sunshine Coast effort over 1400m, he's looking for this trip.
