Belmont Best Bet - Race 3 No. 1 Surfside Session
Surfside Session showed his talent but also his inexperience when resuming over this track and trip on September 3. He did plenty wrong in the run yet still managed to finish second.
Xentaro was able to control the race from the box-seat, and that rival’s form has stacked up, arriving there off a breakthrough and holding his own again in Saturday grade last weekend.
Surfside Session had shown promise in his first campaign, winning on debut in October before being spelled after a wide run in a fair Class 1.
With natural improvement second-up, he looks well placed to put it all together here.
MCA Polytrack Handicap Tips (Race 5)
Belmont Next Best Bet - Race 5 No. 2 Cavallo Red
Cavallo Red is still searching for a second career win but continues to race in a manner that suggests it’s coming. He was good without luck when resuming and brave again second-up despite covering ground as favourite.
The addition of William Pike is a big positive, and third-up fitness gives him another edge.
This Class 1 looks no stronger than his recent assignments, which makes this a winnable race.
If he can’t get win number two here, it’s hard to know where it will come.

Belmont Value Bet - Race 6 No. 2 Ain’tsobad
Ain’tsobad produced the fastest closing sectionals of the day when flashing home for third over 1000m fresh on August 27. That run suggested she had returned in excellent order.
She was well supported second-up in Saturday grade but her chances ended after a costly speed battle with God’s Gate.
Back to Class 3 level third-up, she strikes a race of less depth and looks better placed.
Given the promise she showed first-up, Ain’tsobad appeals as the value play on the card.
