France vs Sweden World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - France has too much attacking firepower

Two-time champions France face Sweden in the World Cup Round of 32 at MetLife Stadium on Tuesday. After topping their group with maximum points and a powerful 10 goals, France are firm favourites, with Kylian Mbappé eyeing his fifth goal of the tournament. Sweden, who struggled during qualifying but advanced via Nations League, have defensive weaknesses but remain dangerous in attack. Expect France’s strong offense to prevail, though Sweden could still find the net. Fans can stream the action live with geo-restrictions and account requirements applied.

France vs Sweden World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

France will be looking to make it four wins from four at this World Cup when they square off against Sweden in the Round of 32 at MetLife Stadium on Tuesday in East Rutherford.

Two-time winners France were pre-tournament favourites alongside Spain and after their sizzling performances throughout the group stage, you've got to say they've justified their favouritism so far.

Didier Deschamps' side took a maximum nine points from the group stage, the first time they've done so at the World Cup since their triumph on home soil in 1998, while they scored 10 goals in the process, with Kylian Mbappe netting four and Ousmane Dembele scoring a first-half hat-trick against a second-string Norway side in the final group game.

Meanwhile, Sweden have got to be happy with a spot in the R32 after initially failing to win a game during World Cup qualifying, but their return of seven goals scored and conceded highlights their defensive deficiencies, which I expect France to exploit here.

France have scored 3+ goals in eight of their last nine victories - when they win, they usually put on a show up front, but they also can struggle at the back, failing to keep a clean sheet in seven of their last eight outings.

With the likes of Alexander Isak, Victor Gyokeres and Anthony Elanga up front, Sweden can knick a goal, but France should be far too strong overall. The odds aren't amazing, but you just have to back Mbappe in for a fifth goal this World Cup as he looks to defend his Golden Boot.
  • France have scored 3+ goals in eight of their last nine wins
  • Sweden conceded five goals vs Netherlands in the group stage
  • Sweden also scored five goals vs Tunisia & have scored in their last nine games
  • France have conceded 1+ goal in seven of their last tight games
  • Three of France's last five wins have come via a 3-1 score
  • Kylian Mbappe has scored four goals in three appearances this World Cup

France vs Sweden Head To Head

France have won 12 of the 23 previous meetings, with Sweden prevailing on six occasions with five draws.

This will be their first World Cup encounter, with Sweden coming out on top 2-0 in their last major tournament clash at the 2012 Euros.

France Form Analysis

France have made the final of the last two World Cups, winning in 2018 and finishing runner-up four years later in Qatar - and you've got to say they are big favourites to return to the final here in North America.

Blessed with the best attacking depth in the competition, Les Bleus have fired home 10 goals in the group stage, taking a maximum nine points from victories over Senegal, Iraq and Norway.

Kylian Mbappe scored a brace against both Senegal & Iraq in 3-1 and 3-0 victories before Ousmane Dembele became the first man since 1994 to score a first-half hat-trick as France eased past a reserve Norway side 4-1 in their final group game.

France are now aiming to become the first team in history to score 3+ goals in five consecutive World Cup games, further underlying their attacking talent.

France Team News

William Saliba was rested against Norway, but the Arsenal defender should be fit to go in this clash.

Mbappe will be looking for a fifth goal as he tries to chase down Lionel Messi in the Golden Boot race, supported in the final third by Michael Olise, Dembele and Desire Doue.

Sweden Form Analysis

Sweden were fortunate to secure a ticket to this World Cup after finishing winless during qualifying, instead finding a way to North America via the Nations League rule.

Graham Potter's side have made the most of their fortune, finishing third in their group and advancing into the R32 as one of the eight-best sides in that position.

Sweden have no problem in attack, with Anthony Elanga emerging as the unlikely primary source, but defensively they need considerable improvement after suffering a crushing 5-1 defeat to the Netherlands.

A 1-1 draw with Japan in their final game was enough for the Swedes to progress to the knockout phase.

Sweden Team News

Isak Hien and Victor Lindelof were taken off with injuries against Japan, leaving the door open for Lucas Bergvall to come into the starting midfield alongside Yasin Ayari.

France are backed for more goals and a win, but Sweden can get on the scoresheet with their strong attack.
