Ivory Coast vs Norway World Cup Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

It's a fantastic opportunity for both nations to make the R16 of a World Cup as Ivory Coast and Norway square off at the AT&T Stadium on Tuesday.

Ivory Coast are through to the knockout stage of a World Cup for the first time after wins over Ecuador and Curacao in their group, while Norway - featuring in their first World Cup since 1998 - also finished second in their group after opting to rest 10 of their starting players against France in their final outing.

It was a decision that came under fire from some circles and now the pressure is on Norway, who obviously would have preferred to face Ivory Coast than their Scandinavian rivals Sweden, who France will meet later on Tuesday.

With both teams equipped with immense attacking firepower, I can see an open and entertaining game playing out here - in stark contrast to a lot of knockout fixtures, where teams can be a bit cagey and playing not to lose. Tough to split them, so a draw also appeals after 90 minutes.

Erling Haaland is the obvious threat and I'll take him to find the back of the net again after scoring four goals in two appearances this World Cup.

PSG target Yan Diamonde and Amad Diallo have been impressing for Ivory Coast, but I like resurgent veteran Nicolas Pepe, who is coming off a man of the match performance in the final group game and has been in prolific goalscoring/assisting form as of late.
  • Ivory Coast have scored in their last 12 games
  • Norway have scored in 21 of their last 22 games
  • Norway have seen BTTS land in nine of their last 10 games
  • Norway scored 37 goals in qualifying, the most of all European sides
  • Erling Haaland has scored 59 goals in 52 games for Norway & already has four this World Cup
  • Nicolas Pepe scored a double vs Curacao in his last outing & also had seven goals/assists in his last seven games for Villarreal in La Liga

Ivory Coast vs Norway Head To Head

This will be the first ever meeting between the nations. Norway are unbeaten in 17 of their last 19 games against African teams, including beating Senegal 3-2 in the group stage.

Ivory Coast Form Analysis

Ivory Coast showcased their threat coming into the World Cup on a three-game winning streak, including beating pre-tournament favourites France 2-1 in a friendly.

The Elephants scored a late goal to dispatch a tough Ecuador side 1-0 in their opening game and went ahead against Germany before conceding late and ultimately falling 2-1.

With a spot in their first World Cup knockout phase within their grasp, Ivory Coast made no mistake in their final group game against Curacao, prevailing 2-0 following a brace from Pepe.

That makes it six wins from their last seven internationals, with Ivory Coast now looking to become just the third African nation in history to win their first knockout game at a World Cup.

Ivory Coast Team News

Central defender Wilfried Singo missed the win over Curacao with a hamstring injury and faces a race against time to be fit for this clash.

Teenage sensation Yan Diamonde continues to impress ahead of a big move this summer and will feature in the Ivory Coast attack alongside Pepe and Diallo.

Norway Form Analysis

Norway were dominant coming through qualifying for their first World Cup finals appearance since 1998 and they did what they needed to do through the group stage in order to secure their spot in the R32.

Stale Solbakken's side opened with a 4-1 victory over Iraq and ensured their passage through to the knockout stage with a 3-2 triumph over Senegal, with superstar striker Haaland scoring a brace in both.

Solbakken came under criticism for resting 10 of his starting side and essentially handing France victory in their final group game, meaning they were happy with second spot in the group and this R32 showdown with Ivory Coast.

Norway have now won 14 of their last 19 internationals and continue to fire in attack - but they've only kept one clean sheet in their last 10, so defence remains a work in progress.

Norway Team News

Right back Julian Ryserson remains in doubt after missing training during the week.

Antonio Nusa will again provide pace and spark down the flank, with Haaland looking to add to his extraordinary goalscoring strike rate up front.
