Ascot Next Best Bet - Race 2 No. 1 Comic Hero
The New Zealand-bred won over this course and distance just under a year ago and he registered some solid efforts earlier this season.
Those efforts included a good third when beaten less than half-a-length in a track and trip handicap on his return from a break.
The pick went on to lose out by a length when finishing sixth in a Benchmark 66+ handicap when ridden from mid-division.
The gelding caught the eye when doing best of those to race from off the pace in being beaten just under seven lengths over this distance here at the end of November.
The form of that race is working out well with the winner, second, sixth and eighth all registering victories in the interim.
Simon Miller’s gelding has won first up in the past with barrier nine no issue given he is likely to be ridden cold.
Lucy Fiore takes the ride for the first time and she looks capable of steering the five-year-old to victory.
Peters Investments Handicap Tips (Race 6)
Ascot Best Bet - Race 6 No. 7 Stormageddon
The son of So You Think is a dual winner this season with his most recent victory coming over 1400m at Bunbury at the end of September.
The gelding won by a narrow margin when racing at Class 1 level that day and has since delivered a number of good efforts at this venue.
Those efforts include top three finishes in four of his last five starts including when two lengths third over 1600m here on his penultimate start.
The selection lost his place at a vital stage and had to pass rivals in the straight when going down by just under half-a-length stepped up to 2100m for the first time here two weeks ago.
The four-year-old found only a stablemate too strong when racing at this level that day and he is expected to appreciate the step up in distance he gets here.
Clint Johnston-Porter’s mount boasts an inside alley for this event and he looks up to recording his third career win.
Ascot Mile Tips (Race 10)
Ascot Feature Bet - Race 10 No. 3 Bonjoy
The five-year-old has demonstrated a liking for this venue in the past including when winning twice from three starts here last season.
Both of those victories came over this course and distance and while she could finish only third here on her return to action she has won both subsequent starts.
The first of those wins saw the mare get home by a narrow margin when contesting the Listed 1600m Starstruck Classic over this course and distance in December.
While she raced against her own sex that day she is equally adept at racing against male rivals and completed a double dropped to 1500m here two weeks ago.
The selection contested a Benchmark 84+ handicap last time with all three of her efforts this prep coming on the good 4 going forecast here.
Regular rider Clint Johnston-Porter is again set to ride and with a good barrier the tactically versatile mare is taken to complete a hat-trick.
Hemlock Stone Perth Cup Winner Handicap Tips (Race 11)
Ascot Value Bet - Race 11 No. 3 Lonsdaleite
With a number of these expected to want to go forwards from the barrier this contest may well be set up for a hold-up performer.
Mitchell Pateman’s representative fits the bill in that regard and is a three-time course winner from six starts with two of those victories coming this prep.
The first saw the gelding get home by one-and-a-half-lengths when contesting a track and trip handicap held on a good 4 surface in December.
While the pick failed to shine when finishing in mid-division at Albany subsequently he returned to winning ways over this course and distance last time.
Jockey Holly Watson timed her run to perfection when getting up to win by a narrow margin last time and she is again set to ride here.
That race has already produced a winner with third home Memory Parade winning here last weekend.
The selection has won from a wide barrier already this prep and he looks value to record his third win of the campaign.
