Ipswich Tips August 27

Fertpro Class 2 Handicap Tips (Race 1)

Ipswich Next Best Bet - Race 1 No. 2 Rosso Levanto

City form has been solid from Rosso Levanto in both starts this preparation, beginning with a narrow Class 1 victory over 1400m at Eagle Farm last month.

Racing from off the pace on Good ground, the six-year-old picked up strongly before stepping to 1650m at Doomben and producing another good effort when third.

While both runs this campaign have come on firmer surfaces, the expected Soft 5 holds no concerns given she has winning form on rain-affected ground.

The David Vandyke-trained mare draws nicely in barrier five and has shaped as though this rise in distance should be within reach.

Ben Thompson takes the ride for the first time and Rosso Levanto looks well placed to record her second win of 2026.

Ipswich Value Bet - Race 4 No. 1 Vostokova

A last-of-12 finish at Ballina is best overlooked with Vostokova, who is better judged on the form she produced earlier in the preparation.

That includes a good third over this track and trip two starts ago, where the four-year-old was beaten three-and-a-half lengths after being held up for clear running.

The softer conditions expected here are no issue, having won her maiden on wet ground at Ballina first-up after racing prominently.

Returning to competition against her own sex is another positive, while the inside draw gives her every opportunity to secure an economical run.

Marcus Wilson's mare gets Robbie Dolan aboard for the first time and, despite needing to forgive the latest effort, Vostokova rates as value at the price.

Ipswich Best Bet - Race 6 No. 11 La Profecia

La Profecia is already a winner at Ipswich, having broken through over 1200m here three starts ago in wet conditions.

The son of Divine Prophet raced prominently and scored by just under a length in that maiden before his next two appearances came on Good ground.

He stepped into Class 1 company at Doomben earlier this month and was beaten just over two lengths over 1200m, with enough merit in that effort to suggest the slight drop in distance should suit.

Barrier four should allow him to settle on speed again, while the return to a softer surface is another positive given his previous course victory.

Tony Gollan has made a strong start to the season and, with blinkers applied for the first time, La Profecia looks well placed to register his second Ipswich win.

Ipswich Roughie - Race 7 No. 2 Deep Kharma

A previous Ipswich victory gives Deep Kharma some appeal at a bigger price, with the mare having won her maiden over 800m here in March.

She jumped as a short-priced favourite that day and scored by one-and-a-half lengths before having just one further run prior to her recent return.

The daughter of Deep Field resumed over the same track and trip earlier this month, finishing fifth in a seven-runner field and beaten just under four lengths, with improvement expected second-up.

Soft 5 conditions should not pose any problems given she debuted with a runner-up finish on rain-affected ground at the Sunshine Coast in February.

The extra distance is the main query, but from a good draw and with promising apprentice Montana Philpot aboard, Deep Kharma may be capable of surprising at big odds.
