Wagga Tips August 27

Best Bet

Race 7 No. 2 Judith’s Revenge

A strong home-track record is an obvious positive for Judith’s Revenge, with 12 of her 14 starts having come at Wagga.

Both career wins have been recorded over this distance, with the mare completing back-to-back victories here in January before putting together a consistent run of top-three finishes.

The pick of those efforts came at Randwick in May, where she finished third and was beaten just over a length in an 18-runner Class 3 handicap before being spelled.

While unproven on Heavy ground, the four-year-old has a strong placed record on Soft tracks and the testing conditions should not pose too many concerns.

The return to country level is another positive for Tim Donnelly’s mare, who trialled soundly for third at Narrandera recently and looks capable of resuming with a win from barrier seven.

Value Bet

Race 5 No. 9 Struggle Street

A strong record over this distance gives Struggle Street plenty of appeal, with two wins and another two top-three finishes from four attempts.

The most recent of those came at Moe last month, where the six-year-old recorded the fifth win of her career in a Benchmark 62.

She returned to frontrunning tactics that day and held on by just under half a length, with the race subsequently producing a couple of winners.

That victory came on Heavy ground, so the current conditions are no issue, while any upgrade would also hold no concerns given her broader profile.

Freshened since that Moe success, the Steven Noble-trained mare gets another good draw and rates as value to complete the double with Samantha Noble aboard.

Market Mover

Race 6 No. 5 Blow On The Dice

Geoff Connell’s representative built on a series of solid placed efforts when winning at Wodonga last time, and punters have taken notice.

That victory came over 1400m, but the extra distance here should hold no concerns for the son of Casino Prince.

Available at $4.40 with Unibet Australia when markets opened, Blow On The Dice is now $3.90.

Stats Say

Keith Dryden and Libby Snowden have made a strong start to the new season, with their stable striking at 31% from 16 runners.

The pair are double-handed in Race 3, where Colorado Sun looks their best chance.

The four-year-old was narrowly beaten when runner-up over this track and trip first-up last preparation and is set to make his first start since finishing seventh at Sapphire Coast in March.

Race-fit stablemate Kisembo also lines up after finishing a fair sixth at big odds in a Nowra maiden earlier this month.
