Doomben Next Best Bet - Race 3 No. 9 Haysiri
The son of Dawn Approach registered placed efforts in each of his first three starts this time around.
Those efforts included a good second when narrowly beaten in a Restricted 58 handicap over 1400m at Dalby on his return to action two months ago.
The selection raced on a soft 6 track that day and again encountered wet conditions when third over 1300m at Toowoomba twelve days later.
The distance here is no issue having performed well when runner-up in a 1625m Class 3 handicap at Toowoomba on his penultimate outing.
Corey & Kylie Geran’s galloper arrives here on the back of a victory by over two lengths in a 1600m Benchmark 65 handicap held on a good 4 track at Gatton last month.
They finished well spread out on that occasion with the third home Archer’s Game going on to register a subsequent victory at this venue.
The gelding won on a good 4 track at Gatton however the return to softer going forecast here is no issue with the pick taken to complete a double racing off a low weight.

Doomben Roughie - Race 4 No. 5 Solar Apex
The most experienced horse in the field has gone well in Class 6 company in the past including when beaten less than half-a-length when second over 1350m here in January last year.
While disappointing that the pick has been unable to score since he delivered a highly promising third in a 1360m Class 6 at Ipswich on his return from a spell in December.
The seven-year-old was ridden cold when beaten less than one-and-a-half-lengths that day and similar tactics were employed following a slow start over 1590m at Ballina subsequently.
The gelding finished sixth in a race that was dominated by those racing close to the speed at Ballina and he has won on the forecast wet going in the past.
Lindsay Hatch’s gelding jumped from a double figure barrier at Ballina while he has been allocated an insider barrier here.
The selection should strip fitter for his two runs back and he may prove ready to strike with Justin Huxtable in the saddle.
Sky Racing Benchmark 85 Handicap Tips (Race 8)
Doomben Best Bet - Race 8 No. 5 Slippin’ Jimmy
The gelding has demonstrated progressive form in the last eight months registering wins in five of his six starts.
The sole defeat came when a close second in a course and distance Benchmark 68 handicap held on a good 4 track in June.
The pick has since proven that he handles softer going including when victorious on a soft 6 over 1000m at Coffs Harbour in August.
David Vandyke’s representative resumed with a victory by nearly a length when contesting the 1200m Gold Coast Turf Club Magic Millions Country Cup at Gold Coast last month.
The selection raced on a heavy 9 surface when taking out that valuable contest and he boasts a good barrier in five here.
The son of Pariah should have no issues with the distance here having won over further in the past and with the useful Emily Lang up the gelding looks capable of recording an all the way win.
The Gibson Class 4 Handicap Tips (Race 10)
Doomben Value Bet - Race 10 No. 10 Jayanthi
The six-year-old was a dual course and distance winner in August 2023 including when taking out a Class 3 set weights contest for the second of those wins.
While unable to score in the interim period she did manage two good second place finishes over shorter here last year including when narrowly beaten in a Benchmark 78 handicap.
The selection ended her last prep with a fourth, beaten just over four lengths in a 1200m Class 4 set weights plate event at Eagle Farm in October.
The daughter of Hinchinbrook was beaten seven lengths in a barrier trial here prior to resuming with an eighth of nine over 1200m in a Sunshine Coast Class 5 handicap last month.
The pick was beaten just two-and-a-half-lengths having raced wide throughout that day and she is expected to have improved markedly for that effort.
The mare boasts a strong record first up and Matthew Hoysted’s representative can help the trainer improve on his near 28% strike-rate (12/43) when teaming up with jockey Nikita Beriman.
