The 2025 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix preview highlights an intense battle between McLaren, who are aiming for a 1-2 finish and could clinch the Constructors' Championship, and Max Verstappen, chasing his first Singapore win. The Marina Bay Circuit offers intense challenges, emphasizing qualifying, tyre strategy, and flawless performance. While Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are favourites for McLaren, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc is also tipped for a podium finish. Smart strategies and adaptability, especially with frequent Safety Cars in Singapore, will decide the outcome.

2025 Formula 1 Singapore GP Preview & Tips

Will Max Verstappen make it three victories in a row and get his first ever first place finish in Singapore or will this be a dominant performance from McLaren as they look to seal the Constructor's Championship with a 1-2 finish?

With seven races left, McLaren could seal the title this weekend, though Verstappen’s back-to-back victories have tightened the narrative and reminded everyone that Red Bull remain a threat.

The Marina Bay Street Circuit is one of F1’s toughest challenges: a 4.94 km, 62-lap night race that pushes drivers to the limit. Tight, twisty corners, bumps, manhole covers and close barriers make mistakes costly, while the searing humidity demands immense physical and mental stamina. At over 300 km, it’s one of the most gruelling events of the season, and because overtaking opportunities are scarce, qualifying and track position often prove decisive.

Tyre strategy is another key factor, with Pirelli supplying the C3, C4 and C5 compounds. The layout’s mix of heavy braking zones and slow corners, combined with limited cooling on the straights, means degradation is a major concern, particularly on the softest C5. Managing rubber carefully will be vital, with the balance between aggression and conservation often defining race pace.

Strategic pit stops will be crucial, especially given Singapore’s high likelihood of Safety Cars disrupting plans. With tight margins in both championships, success here will come down to precision in qualifying, smart tyre use, and flawless execution under the lights.

2025 Formula 1 Singapore GP Qualifying Best Bet

Lando Norris had full control in qualifying last year, outpacing Max Verstappen by 0.203 seconds and was just under half of a second quicker than his teammate Piastri who was fifth fastest with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell also in between the McLarens.

As in every GP the question will be if any team can stick it with the McLarens and signs since the summer appear to show that Team Papaya are not as dominant as they were before the break.

Ferrari has traditionally been quick in Singapore but dropped off the pace a little last season, but I will be keeping that in mind after watching how they go in practice.

The early tip is Lando based on last year’s flawless session, however, the value is on Verstappen at $5.00. The Red Bull has been shaky over the last couple of seasons on street circuits but its performance in Azerbaijan was phenomenal.

2025 Formula 1 Singapore GP Best Bet

The same contenders will be around come race time with Oscar Piastri in the mix as well of course.

Can Max Verstappen take his third consecutive race victory, that is the question that everyone wants answered. I am going to say no. This will once again be a battle of which McLaren qualifies best and gets through the opening stint of the race.

Last race was a disaster for Piastri and the ice cold Aussie will need to recuperate and put in a flawless weekend at the Marina Bay Circuit and I am backing him to do so.

I also like Charles Leclerc for a podium. Ferrari has placed well in Singapore over the years and we know how Leclerc can race on the street.
