An 18 run win over the luckless Stars was followed by a nervous 8 run win over the Renegades on Monday. The Thunder were sent in to bat and were under siege early with Cam Bancroft leaving for 8 runs from 7 balls. David Warner returned to some youthful form belting an unbeaten 86 off 57 which included 10 fours and 2 sixes as batting counterparts got off to starts but fell around him.

With ball in hand it took a while for Tom Andrews to break through for the first wicket of the innings with their opponents run rate outpacing their own. A solid spell between the 10th and 15th overs brought things right back with 4 more wickets falling meaning it would have to be the tail that wagged if Melbourne were to win.

Fortunately for Sydney their bowlers were able to round things out keeping the pressure on and the total low through 20 overs.
