Brisbane Heat look to extend their perfect home record at the GABBA in forthcoming match against Sydney Thunder. Matt Renshaw's consistent performance, featuring a century and notable scores, positions him as a key player for the Heat. On the other hand, Sydney Thunder, eying their second win of the season, rely heavily on David Warner’s recent form. Despite Warner's individual brilliance, Thunder's struggles continued. Pundits predict a high-scoring game over 350 runs, with Brisbane maintaining supremacy boosted by home conditions and strong team form.

Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Thunder Big Bash League Expert Tips

Brisbane will keep their perfect record alive at the GABBA with a win over the last-placed Sydney Thunder on Saturday afternoon.

Expect the runs to flow once again at the GABBA, at least for the Heat who have not scored less than 179 on their home turf in BBL15 while going on to win all of the matches at home this season.

The biggest role player in the Heat’s fine home form has been Matt Renshaw who scored a century in his first appearance at the GABBA this season, followed by 2 respectable scores of 33 and 41. Back the Heat No. 4 for another solid innings scoring over his batting total.

If the Thunder are a chance, David Warner is going to need to continue his record-breaking run of 197 runs not out over his last 2 innings, not that it has helped the Thunder get wins, with their only victory this season, over the Heat actually in Canberra.

With Warner doing his part and the Heat so comfortable on the GABBA pitch expect a game total over 350 runs and Brisbane to get the win.

  • The Heat have won all three of their matches in Brisbane.
  • Matt Renshaw has scored at least 33 runs in his 3 innings at bat at the GABBA.
  • All three matches at the GABBA have had a game total over 350 runs.
  • David Warner has a T20I average of 48.33 at the GABBA

Brisbane Heat Form

The Brisbane Heat have been alternating wins for losses all BBL15 with a 3-4 record in the series.

Their latest performance was probably their worst of the campaign scoring just 114 runs after being sent in to bat against the Sixers at Manuka Oval in Canberra. Brisbane have one of the deepest top-orders in the BBL but have managed the lowest score of the series with only Jack Wildermuth scoring 30+ runs as the likes of Matt Renshaw and sMax Bryant scoring just 2 & 3 runs respectively.

The bowling attack of Brisbane gave themselves a chance, keeping the Sydney run rate down to 6.32 runs per over, however, they hit the low target with 8 balls remaining and 3 wickets in hand.

Sydney Thunder Form

Sydney were desperate for a victory against Adelaide after picking up just 1 win in their opening six matches and their bowlers put them in prime position after winning the toss and sending in the Strikers to bat. Wes Agar claimed 3/16 and Nathan McAndrew 2/32 as the Thunder cleaned up Adelaide for 165/8 after 20 overs.

The win looked all but sealed after an opening partnership of 73 runs from Matthew Gikes (43 runs) and David Warner with 9.4 overs bowled, however, the runs dried up quick-smart. Warner managed 67* from 51 but only Daniel Sams (21 runs) scored more than 8 runs as the Thunder fell 6 runs short of the total.

The Thunder hopes of playing in the finals are all but over with just 1 win from 7 matches, despite the heroics of Warner who over his 2 latest matches against the Hurricanes and Strikers has 197 runs not out.
