Perth won convincingly by 33 runs at Optus Stadium but it will be the Strikers that get the last laugh with their home form at Adelaide Oval playing a large part in their success. The Strikers have won their last two on their home pitch with the conditions in Adelaide being tough all summer.
Liam Scott will continue his outstanding form with the bat after currently scoring 150 run unbeaten over his last two matches against the Hurricanes (91*) in Hobart and the Thunder (49*) in Adelaide. The hometown hero even scored 7 not out in the Strikers win against the Heat at Adelaide Oval in the game prior to their contest against Sydney.
The Strikers will need Jamie Overton in his best form to dismantle the dangerous top order of the Scorchers. The quick is on a fine run of at least two wickets in each of his last 3 matches and is tipped to continue that streak.
- The Strikers have won their last 2 matches at Adelaide Oval.
- Liam Scott has scored 33 runs or more in his last 3 matches.
- Jamie Overton has 8 wickets in his last 3 bowling innings.
- The average game total at Adelaide Oval is 295.3
Adelaide Strikers Form
The Strikers struggled badly with the bat against league leaders Hobart, collapsing to 8 for 4 early in the chase of 176 runs and never received, going down by 37 runs on Friday.
The top order failed under pace pressure, with Liam Scott’s unbeaten 91 the only bright spot in an otherwise poor batting display as they finished 141 for 9. Luke Wood and Jamie Overton were the pick of the bowlers with 2 wicket each.
The defeat dents their finals hopes with just three games remaining, however, with the league so tight in the middle of the back, a successful run home could see the Strikers slip into the top four..
Perth Scorchers Form
The Scorchers three-game winning run was dashed by the Melbourne Renegades in the most dramatic of fashion, losing the match at the hands of a six from Oliver Peak after coming a delivery away from defending their poor total of 127 runs.
Mitch Marsh’s 27 runs and Aaron Hardie’s 44 runs was the only thing of substance from Perth’s batting innings as Garinder Sandhu tore them apart with 4 wickets. A slow start to the chance by the Renegades was suddenly put under pressure by the Scorchers bowling attack who took4 wickets for 18 runs and the game was on. Though, the Renegades settled with their partnership of Peake and Will Sutherland with the former playing hero.
The loss forfeited Perth the chance to put pressure on the Hurricanes at the top of the BBL table and will hope for a slip up by the BBL14 Champions if they are going to snag top spot in the final 3 games of the season.
