Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers Big Bash League Tips - Sixers To Lock In Finals Spot

In the last regular game of BBL15, the Sydney Sixers look set to secure a top-four finish by defeating the Brisbane Heat, despite Heat's strong performance this season. Sydney's chances hinge on the formidable batting of Steve Smith, who has been exceptional this season, alongside a ruthless bowling lineup. The Sixers' strategy could either involve chasing down targets or wrapping up the Heat's innings, with Jack Edwards being a key player to watch. The tip is for Sydney to cover a line of -3.5 wickets or -6.5 runs, and for them to maintain strong partnerships and scoring prowess throughout the game.

Brisbane Heat vs Sydney Sixers Big Bash League Expert Tips

Sudden death Big Bash Cricket in the final regular season matchup of the BBL15 season. Despite the heroics of the Heat this season with some spectacular run chases, their finals hopes will end here with another Sydney Sixers victory.

Sydney will secure themselves a spot in the top 4 on the final day of competition and it is likely to come off the back of Steve Smith’s batting and a ruthless bowling attack. Smith has an unbelievable record in the BBL in recent years and it was made all the better with another 100 on Friday against the Thunder.

His two scores this season have been 19 not out in a game that was stopped by rain and 100 while he scored 121 not out and 52 in 2 innings last season. Even if he doesn’t reach a ton, there are many capable batsmen in the team to pick up the slack.

Brisbane are a good team, they have a 5-4 record this season including a nailbiting 3 run victory against the Hurricanes in their last outing. They have some massive hitters in the team in Matt Renshaw and Nathan McSweeney while Jack Wildermuth is dangerous with both the bat and the ball. Even though they are undefeated in 4 games at the Gabba this season, 3 of the 4 have been decided at the death.

My tip is that Sydney will have the experience when it's needed, whether to chase down a total or to wrap up the tail depending on the circumstances.

Take Sydney to win and cover the line of -3.5 wickets/ -6.5 runs. Jack Edwards has been a solid bowler all season long, take him for 2+ wickets. Sydney opening partnership to clear 26.5 runs as well as over the total of 28.5 fours in the game.

  • Sydney’s elite batting lineup and strong bowling attack are in top form right now.
  • Jack Edwards has 15 wickets this season, equal second amongst all bowlers in the league. He has taken 2+ in 2 of his last 4 outings.
  • Steve Smith and Babar Azam cleared this total in their last game with Smith scoring over the number himself in his last 4 games that have ended in a result.
  • An average of 31 fours have been hit at the Gabba this season and 27.8 over the past 4 seasons.

Brisbane Heat Form

Brisbane were part of another miracle run chase in their most recent matchup against the Hobart Hurricanes on Wednesday. The Heat ended up winning by 3 runs after being sent in to bat first and posting 160/8, coming into the game they were 1-2 as the team batting first.

Usman Khawaja managed just 19 runs off 18 balls as the opener while Nathan McSweeney and the ever reliable Matt Renshaw added a combined 86 runs.

With the ball Matt Kuhnemann struck in the very first over for 1 of his 2 wickets with Xavier Bartlett taking his first of 3 just 15 balls later. It looked like Hobart were going to win, needing just 6 runs off the last over but were stopped in their tracks by Zaman Khan.

Brisbane currently sit outside the top 4, a win puts them in.

Sydney Sixers Form

The Sydney Sixers blasted themselves to victory in the final Sydney derby of the season on Friday night. They won by 5 wickets with 16 balls remaining with Steve Smith hitting 100 off 42 balls including 5 fours and 9 sixes, one hitting the roof of one of the SCG stands.

Babar Azam also put up 47 runs, one of his best outings of the season while Lachlan Shaw and Jack Edwards made sure the total ticked over for a win as they chased down the Thunder yet again.

In the first innings the Sixers were able to catch the wicket of Matt Gilkes for just 12 runs but struggled to get around stalwart David Warner’s defence as he knocked up another 110 runs not out. The rest of the batting order didn’t get away, Sam Curran taking 3 wickets with Mitch Starc, Jack Edwards and Ben Manenti all taking 1 each.

Sydney are inside the top 4 but a loss in this matchup would see them drop out.
