Taylor Fritz vs Alex de Minaur Tips, Prediction & Live Stream - Fritz to pile more misery on Demon's shocking top 10 record
Taylor Fritz faces Alex de Minaur in a crucial ATP Finals match in Turin, with Fritz needing just a win to reach the semi-finals. De Minaur, on the other hand, not only has to win but also requires favorable other results to progress. His poor track record against top 10 players, including a 0-17 streak, hampers his chances even further. Fritz, equipped with a powerful serve and impressive forehand, contrasts de Minaur's lack of potent weaponry. The American leads their head-to-head with five wins in recent encounters, providing him an edge.

All four players in the Jimmy Connors Group can still qualify for the semi-finals heading into the final day, but it's Carlos Alcaraz and Fritz who are in pole position. Fritz simply needs to defeat de Minaur to secure his spot in the final four, while de Minaur will need to win in straight sets and hope Alcaraz demolishes Lorenzo Musetti later that night. However, the Aussie will need to overcome a significant hurdle if he is to give himself any chance of an unlikely passage through to the semi-finals.
De Minaur has a 0-17 record against top 10 players at tour-level dating back to May 2024, with his latest loss coming against Musetti after he was leading 5-3 in the deciding set before failing to win another game in the match. It's becoming a mental obstacle, but the sad reality is also that de Minaur simply doesn't have that one big weapon or enough juice on his serve to win cheap points, which is absolutely essential in these elite matchups. Speed, grinding and endurance can only get you so far.
Fritz meanwhile has those in abundance - namely the lethal serve and seismic forehand, which make him extra dangerous indoors. The American has qualified for the semi-finals in his two previous appearances at the year-end championships and he's looking good to do so once again. De Minaur will fight, scrap and battle, but Fritz's weapons will prove the difference in the end.
Head To Head
Currently level at 5-5, but Fritz has won five of the last seven meetings between the pair - including a 5-7 6-4 6-3 victory at the ATP Finals 12 months ago.
Taylor Fritz Form
Fritz comes into this contest with a 53-22 season record, maintaining his spot inside the world’s top six throughout 2025.
It’s been a solid, if unspectacular, campaign for the American. His best results came during the grass-court swing, where he won ATP titles in Stuttgart and Eastbourne and reached the semi-finals at Wimbledon - one of the standout moments of his year.
His hardcourt form to end the year proved more inconsistent. Fritz fell in the US Open quarter-finals to Novak Djokovic, finished runner-up in Tokyo but then struggled through a series of early exits, losing to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Alexander Bublik in Shanghai and Paris and bowing out in Basel to Ugo Humbert.
Still, the 28-year-old did enough to qualify for the ATP Finals for a third consecutive year, eager to replicate his deep runs from recent seasons after he made the semi-finals in 2022 and the final last year, going down t Jannik Sinner.
Fritz launched his 2025 ATP Finals campaign in commanding fashion, sweeping past a fatigued Lorenzo Musetti 6-3, 6-4 in his opening round-robin match.
The American then had his chances against Alcaraz in his second match - he'd won the opening set and created two break points at 2-2 in the second, but he couldn't convert and ultimately went down 6-7(2) 7-5 6-3.
Alex de Minaur Form
De Minaur enters this showdown with a 55-23 record for the season, qualifying for the ATP Finals for the second consecutive year and firmly cementing his place inside the world’s top 10 thanks to his trademark consistency against lower-ranked opponents.
It’s been another impressively steady campaign for the Aussie. He captured his 10th career title in Washington, finished runner-up in Rotterdam, reached the semi-finals in Monte Carlo, and made quarter-final runs at both the Australian Open and US Open.
The indoor swing has also been kind to de Minaur - he holds a 13–6 record under the roof this season, highlighted by that Rotterdam final, a semi-final appearance in Vienna, and a quarter-final finish in Paris.
However, the glaring issue remains his struggles against top-tier opposition. De Minaur has now lost 17 consecutive matches against top-10 players dating back to Roland Garros 2024 - a stat he’ll desperately want to change if he’s to make a last-ditch impression in Turin.
Unfortunately, his ATP Finals campaign started on a familiar note. Facing Carlos Alcaraz, de Minaur let a golden opportunity slip when leading 5-3 in the first-set tiebreak, before fading to a 6-7 2-6 defeat, while he then blew a 5-3 lead in the deciding set against a fatigued Musetti, going down 5-7 6-3 5-7 to slump to a 0-5 record at the season-ending championships.
