Hubert Hurkacz vs Yannick Hanfmann Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

It's a battle of former Rome Masters quarter-finalists as Hubert Hurkacz and Yannick Hanfmann clash at the Foro Italico on Wednesday.

Hurkacz has advanced into the Rome quarter-finals in his last two appearances in 2024 and 2025, while Hanfmann put together a run to the last eight in his debut showing in 2023.

Both players have big serves and are quite good on clay, so I think this will be a relatively close contest and I'll be backing at least one tiebreak for the best bet.

At tour-level, Hurkacz has been playing tiebreaks more often than not all season, while Hanfmann also has a strong tiebreak record on clay lately. These two also played two tiebreaks in their only previous meeting.

Hurkacz is coming off a runner-up showing at the strong Cagliari Challenger last week and is the superior and more consistent player, so backing the Pole to edge this one and move through to the second round.
  • Hurkacz has seen 1+ tiebreak in nine of his last 12 tour-level matches
  • Hanfmann has seen 1+ tiebreak in four of his last five tour-level matches
  • Hurkacz has made the quarter-finals in his last two Rome appearances
  • Hurkacz has won seven of his 10 matches at all levels on clay this season
  • Hanfmann has lost five of his seven matches vs higher-ranked opponents this season

Hurkacz vs Hanfmann Head To Head

The pair haven't met at tour-level, but Hurkacz did prevail in Roland Garros qualifying all the way back in 2018.

Hubert Hurkacz Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 8-9
  • ATP Rome Record: 8-6
  • Current ranking: No. 53
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 6 (2024)

It's been a tough return to the tour for Hurkacz after he underwent knee surgery in 2025.

Hurkacz was initially on fire in his very first tournament at the United Cup, but things went south quickly as the Pole went on a seven-match losing streak.

Transitioning to clay has sparked a return to some form, with Hurkacz winning seven of his 10 matches on the surface.

The 29-year-old made the R16 in Monte Carlo and was stopped by Lorenzo Musetti in the second round of Madrid. Hurkacz dropped down to Challenger level in a bid to find more form and confidence in Cagliari last week and the move worked a treat - he made the final, beating the likes of Matteo Berrettini and Roman Andres Burruchaga before going down to Matteo Arnaldi.

Yannick Hanfmann Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 10-6
  • ATP Rome Record: 5-2
  • Current Ranking: No. 59
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 45 (2023)

It's been a solid season for Hanfmann and he's not too far away from his career-high ranking and breaking back into the top 50.

Hanfmann's season highlight came on clay during the Golden Swing, where he made the final of Santiago before going down to Luciano Darderi.

The German also made the quarter-finals of Marrakech, but would be disappointed with his performances at the altitude events in Munich and Madrid, which suit his game to a tee.

Hanfmann suffered a first round exit in Munich to Alexander Blockx before going down in the second round of Madrid to Francisco Cerundolo.
