Grigor Dimitrov vs Terence Atmane Tips, Prediction & Live Stream

Grigor Dimitrov will be out for revenge when he squares off against Terence Atmane in the opening round of the Indian Wells Masters on Thursday.

Dimitrov suffered a straight sets defeat to Atmane in the first round of Acapulco a couple of weeks ago and will be hoping to flip the script on the erratic Frenchman here. Atmane has plenty of talent and firepower - see his run to the Cincinnati Masters semi-finals last year - but he's extremely inconsistent and volatile on court, which is why he's only won back-to-back matches once since that Cincinnati result.

Dimitrov continues to work his way back on tour after his pectoral injury last year and he should only keep improving. The conditions in Indian Wells suit his game and he's had decent success here lately, making at least the R16 in his last five visits and also a semi-final. Atmane is just too erratic to reliably back, while you know Dimitrov will keep a steady base level and fight until the end. I'll back the Bulgarian to turn the tables on Atmane here.
  • Dimitrov has won 32 of his last 38 completed matches vs players outside the top 50
  • Dimitrov has only ever suffered one loss to a player outside the top 50 at Indian Wells - and that was an 18-year-old Alexander Zverev in 2016
  • Dimitrov has won 11 of his last 12 matches vs French players
  • Dimitrov has won 11 of his last 12 matches vs left-handed players
  • Ten of Dimitrov's last 11 completed matches in Indian Wells have ended in straight sets
  • Atmane is 6-14 vs top 50 players in his career
  • Atmane has never won a match in his career at Indian Wells
  • Atmane has only won back-to-back matches once since August

Grigor Dimitrov Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 1-4
  • ATP Indian Wells Record: 16-12
  • Current Ranking: No. 42
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 3 (2017)

Dimitrov was struck the cruellest of blows after he suffered a serious pectoral injury while leading Jannik Sinner by two sets in the Wimbledon R16 last year.

It's been a slow comeback for Dimitrov, with the Bulgarian losing four of his five matches so far in 2026.

After making the second round in Brisbane, the 34-year-old had an unfortunate first round draw at the Australian Open as he went down to an in-form Tomas Machac.

Dimitrov followed that up with first round eliminations in Dallas and Acapulco to Alex Michelsen and Atmane respectively.

The former World No. 3 made the semi-finals in Indian Wells in 2021 and ran into Carlos Alcaraz in the R16 last year.

Terence Atmane Form Analysis

  • 2026 Record: 3-5
  • ATP Indian Wells Record: 0-0
  • Current Ranking: No. 52
  • Career-High Ranking: No. 52 (March 2026)

Atmane announced himself on tour with his magical run to the Cincinnati Masters semi-finals, which saw him sky-rocket into the top 100.

Despite only putting back-to-back wins together once since then, Atmane has continued to make the most of his new-found status on tour and is currently on the verge of cracking the top 50.

The Frenchman didn't win a main draw match for the year until Delray Beach, where he beat Patrick Kypson. His best result came a couple of weeks ago in Acapulco, with Atmane beating Dimitrov and Rafael Jodar to make the quarter-finals before going down to Miomir Kecmanovic.

Atmane has never won a match at Indian Wells, twice losing in the first round of qualifying.
