De Minaur has still managed to register 43 wins for the year, but as mentioned, most of them have come against lower-ranked players.
The Aussie did restore some confidence with a run to the Beijing final and Shanghai Masters quarter-finals during the Asian swing.
However, Demon was again unconvincing in his Vienna opener - he trailed the injury-prone Tomas Machac by a set-and-a-break before completing a 1-6 6-4 6-3 comeback.

The 20-year-old made the fourth round of the US Open, but didn't have a great Asian swing, going 1-2 across Beijing and Shanghai.
Tien got back on track with a dominant 6-3 6-1 victory over Luca Van Assche in his Vienna debut earlier in the week.
